Lake Turkana, also known as Lake Rudolf, is a fascinating body of water located in the Great Rift Valley of East Africa in Kenya. It is the largest permanent desert lake in the world covering an area of approximately 6,405 square kilometers (2,473 square miles) and stretches over 290 kilometers (180 miles) from north to south. The lake is relatively shallow, with an average depth of about 30 meters (98 feet).
