Since most of our couples are high school girls, we wanted to interview and profile one of our couples. Read more as Musette opens up about her relationship with her fiancé, Chris, who proposed after more than a decade of dating. High school is often the scariest and hardest stage to go through. Four years marks the beginning of a new chapter in life. While some of us look back on our high school days and cringe, others remember with a smile because that's where they found their first love. At Bridal Finery, we have many brides who are high school sweethearts! We want to know more about their love story and share with you true love stories of high school students in love. This is our wife, Musette, and partner, Chris. Twelve years later, he asked her to marry him on their 11th wedding anniversary. - How did you and Chris meet? I met my other half when I was only 15 years old. I was a new girl at school and he was an experienced final year student when I transferred to another school in my second year. Funny story is that I wasn't excited about moving away from high school until I saw this tall and handsome boy walk into my class. The rest is history. We didn't know that we were both questioning our classmates until one of them revealed our secret and found out that we were in love with each other.
- What is the key to a lasting relationship?
THEY!!! The hardest thing is to persevere. Try to understand your partner's point of view and agree to disagree. Love with all your heart and don't let your emotions guide you!
- Did you know right away that he was the man of your life? No way. Of course, at first, I liked him and thought that this man could do no wrong. Until I got to know him and I was like, "Okay, maybe." » LOL! » and we decided to love ourselves despite our faults. We had a lot of bumps in the road, as you can imagine after 12 years. Sometimes I never thought we would be here, but we make each other better and support each other. I can now proudly say that he was the chosen one. This has always been the case and will always be the case.
- What do you wish people knew about high school friends?
It is not always as beautiful as it seems and requires a lot of work, patience and communication. The biggest obstacle we face is knowing ourselves as adults. Think about it, we met when we were still babies, without any experience in life. We are apathetic youth. As we grow up, we change a lot, we want different things, have different goals, we look different. I remember when I was dating him for 6 years, I said to him, "let's go on a date" and I don't mean a normal date, but a meeting to get to know each other. I know it's scary. But I want to know how old the man I love is.We decided to love each other for real, not just for the fun or the memories, but for who we have become. Being able to see all these moments together made the experience so much more. Mussette and Chris are celebrating their wedding in May 2020. My husband Brian and I met in Florida and decided it would be the perfect place to bring our family together. My family is from Pittsburgh and his family is from San Diego, so we decided to reconnect in Winter Park! How did your co-worker tell you? Brian and I were living in Pittsburgh at the time, but I was surprised at dinner with the news that we were going to Florida for the weekend in two days so I could pack. She arranged everything for the trip, including transportation for our cat, Bella! He told me shortly after we arrived. We ended up going to our favorite restaurant, Hillstone, to celebrate the night and the next day we went back to our first day at Epcot
How was your clothing shopping experience? The best! I was so nervous on the day of my dress because I didn't know what to expect and it was our first time, but it ended up being my most memorable experience! My mom and sister came with me that day and we met Tali, who was really nice. My sister was going to work at the beginning of our date, so my mom and I went to talk to Tali. He was very kind and welcoming to us. After we chatted for a bit, each of us took out clothes from the store for me to try on. It was a special moment because I finally fell in love with the clothes my mom picked out. By the time my sister came home after the accident, the dress had already been chosen and the rest of the appointments had been cancelled! It was great
because I could get my jewelry, veil, gown, and shoes from The Bridal Finery and complete the look in one day. We also went to Hillstone that day to celebrate :) The wife, Emily and her husband, Spenser, said "I do" in their outdoor winter wedding at Bella Collina in Monte Verde, Florida.
