As much as I want to make this home, I can not.

Allow me to expand if you will.

Over on https://bastyon.com
Where I am trying to get people to join here, with a token worth more than Hive, they like the private chat option on Bastyon, it was introduced by the people, for the people, by independent developers.

When you let a site self run, with no central power, that is the result you get.

Is this site the same?

Okay there are no downvotes, but who is running the show and the nodes? Serious question.

Do we have a freedom to change the code and run nodes here? Implement the change we all want? Yes questions, questions and more questions.

Before I put another 1 cent into here, answers would be nice.

When I go to bastyon and my inglorious bastyards I have an option to talk via a encrypted chat channel, no not nasty discord.
Moreover channels that people make for like minded chat.

I like freedom, I would want a freedom and truth channel, will you make it or let me? or let me fund it?

If it costs money just to chat then that becomes no better than being taxed by government.

There are ways to implement a free chat system, come on, you are smart enough to know, if the ingloriousbastyons can, you can.

Have a superb weekend, and say no to any form of tyranny, The latter is called being grown up :-)

It was you that got me to give old pocketnet another go, and yes i think the chat over there is killer.

Whenever i see discord being promoted it sets off alarm bells.

That is one of my issues with blurt. I am never going to use trojan discord for anything.

Spot on bro, and this is what concerns me too. And the fact this is basically a clone of steemit minus downvotes.

It is...im a bit wait and see at the moment, hive is getting fully evil though

I am done with hive, I just can not tolerate the hatred they seem to like on there.

And there endeth my upvotes lol.

The irony here is that the pocketnet team was created from steem users - not sure if 100% tho.
Level 2 irony is that their chat app was prob the first thing they created, and for exactly the reason you state - they hated discord!
All of this has taken prob about 2 years of work to get to Bastyon now.

Shows what can be done when you love an idea but hate how it's been implemented.

Yes they were disgruntled steem users, like myself, but leaving people to it works when they are pissed off, the token called pkoin went from nothing to $6, and now floats at $1.25, now that is a true free market principle, is it not?

I have no faith in the "free market" as any concept - they all devolve into cartels and tyranny - coz they can.
More interesting is a self-regulating market, which is what any synthetic economy, such as crypto, would have to be in order to avoid the known pitfalls of any "freedom to impose".

Now I must have a look at how those early pocketnet ideas have evolved ;-) I knew about it ages ago, and the conceptual chats were interesting - and the people were aware of how hard a problem it truly is, to create a cryptoeconomy that doesn't somehow self-destruct.

I think there is a whole research paper worth doing on how not-decentralised most allegedly decentralised structures truly are ;-)

Anyway, is good to see an experiment that is trying a totally different system.

Cheers buddy, the instructions to make any system are on github, any can be replicated, so all is transparent.

The original chat was replaced when people kept arguing on there.

My yt channel, it is where I get my kicks in winter, waiting to do it all again, sad but true
