Blurt Witness Update | A Focus on Network Growth

in blurt •  4 years ago

Firstly thank you to everyone that has supported my early witness server.

A brand new bloackchain is an exciting place to be! and I'm proud to have launched my server on Mainnet day #1. And I'm grateful for the early support that it's received! 💖

Blurt Witness

As I stated in my initial introduction post, I value honesty, integrity, and hard work. I believe fiercely in an open and censorship resistant internet that is backed by decentralized technologies such as the Blurt blockchain. I stand for Freedom, Liberty, and Decentralized Tech.

Initiatives

Early activity and initiatives are focused around network growth. The Blurt blockchain in an initial growth phase with new people discovering the blockchain, steem/hive users cross posting, and early content creators establishing roots.

To add value now is to support the discovery of the blurt blockchain, encourage content creation and curation, and empower new and existing users. I'm tackling this through:

  • Helpful Content - I've made a number of posts on introductory topics such as the Rewards Curve, Content Curation, and Blurt Tools to make life easier, especially for those new to the ecosystem.
  • Involved in Blurt discussion with fellow community members. I try to keep up on the conversations and comment constructively when I can. I also try to engage through posts with comments as much as I can. Overall I think engagement is really important, be it in comments or through Discord.
  • The #blurtit initiative was recently launched by myself and @brofund in an effort to increase Blurt's marketing reach through social media with a focus on attracting new users.
  • Advocating for low transaction and data usage fees in order to strike a balance in encouraging frequent engagement and a good UX vs preventing spam and bad actors from holding back the network.

I may be a novice Python developer but I currently have no plans to contribute to blurt in this capacity. There are other areas and initiatives that will be a better use of my time and skill sets right now.

Skill Sets

  • Market Research (quantitative data collection and analysis) [10+ years]
  • Project Management [10+ years]
  • SEO & Digital Marketing [5+ years]
  • Website Development [5+ years]
  • Programming (Python) & Server Management [1 Year]

These are some of the areas where I'm experienced, shows a glipse of my professional background. If any of these can cross over to add value to Blurt in any capacity I'm happy to discuss how we can do that.

Server Upgrades

My intention is to scale up the speed and size of my witness server as the volume of network transactions increase. I plan to upgrade to a more powerful server before the year is up, and am currently considering a Hetzner CX21 VPS located in Finland.

We'll see you in the next witness update! Until then lets keep creating quality content and letting people know where we are blogging, with #blurt.

Thanks for the encouragement @megadrive, excited to see Blurt grow stronger everyday! Sometimes my opinions or ideas come out of left field, or are contrasting to popular opinion. For better or worse 🤪.

@arg8buzz Have you an idea it is very expensive to run one VPS on Azure?

Hi @nascimentoab I really couldn't tell you. Some quick research shows you can run Ubuntu on a Virtual machine with 8gb of RAM for roughly 0.10 cents an hour, which is $72 USD a month apx. Comparatively that looks expensive considering there's only 50 GB or storage...?!?
