An AI art experiment a year ago...🦋

Hi friends!

The continuous developments taking place in the field of AI art generation are quite impressive indeed!
About a year ago, I conducted an interesting experiment in AI art generation using the GenZArt AI art generator app. The goal of the experiment was to generate a photorealistic image of a butterfly, with both wings of the butterfly featuring human silhouette figures on them. At that time, I was a very active contributor to the Steemit community, so I made a detailed post on Steemit, explaining my experiment and its outcome. You can read that post here:

To summarize my experiment, the outcome was not at all satisfactory. No matter how hard I tried, I could not generate perfect human silhouette figures on the wings of the butterfly.

Just a few days ago, I became curious about whether present-day AI art generator apps could accomplish what GenZArt could not about a year ago. So, I wrote this prompt: "Create an image of a butterfly with black silhouette human faces on both of its wings; let both wings be identical to each other, realistic, with a greenery background."

First, I tried this prompt on ChatGPT, which has very recently introduced an AI image generation feature, and to my pleasant surprise, at the first try itself, the outcome was very satisfactory! These are the AI images that ChatGPT generated:

Then I tried the same prompt on the Shedevrum app, and voila! The outcome was just perfect at the very first try! Here is the AI image that Shedevrum generated:

This is exactly the kind of outcome I had visualized a year ago! Now I was curious to find out if GenZArt, which was not successful at generating such an outcome a year ago, would be able to do so at present. So I tried the same prompt on GenZArt once again. But this time around, too, GenZArt could not accomplish what ChatGPT and Shedevrum could.

So here are the final results of this experiment:
The Winner: Shedevrum app.
Runner-up: ChatGPT app.
The Loser: GenZArt app.

Oh, by the way, the GenZArt app is indeed a very capable, feature-rich AI art generator app in a broad sense. It is just that the task I assigned in my butterfly AI art experiment was too tough for GenZArt to handle! 🙂
