Vaccinating newborn babies IS illegal. We only vaccinate them once their immune system has developed, which happens within the first few months. Generally the first vaccines are at 6 months old.
I had 2 children in the early 2000s, and they got most of the recommended shots, which wasn't very many. I had 2 children during the lockdowns, and they got NONE of the recommended shots. Supposedly they should have had dozens by this point. I'm happy to have made this decision.

2 months: DTaP, Hib, IPV, PCV, RV

12 months: At least one dose of the current COVID-19 vaccine
15–17 months: 3 Polio, 3 DTaP, 2 Hep B, 1 Varicella
18 months through 5 years: 3 Polio, 4 DTaP, 3 Hep B, 1 Varicella
