Something always baffles me whenever I watch any Chinese village series, it either give the bloody type or the tyrant vibes where the king get to be a puppet, the young king will now have to start looking for ways to sort of every things, I kind of saw this particular movies titled The Double which change everything, was watching a movie on neflix when I saw the movie, I had to skip it first but somehow I still went back to look for it with the hope on seeing the usual plot but somehow the trailer change how I really view it.

The movie is 2024 based with just 1 season which have 40 episodes, that might really long non-series lovers but this really worth the watch, I won't really classify it as a king maker tyrant movie but a deep Justice-revenge seeking movie and that really make it interesting. At first the story mode based on two ladies, one (Xue Fang Fei) who fell in love and marry with a guy against her father wish, stood by him and his family, he turn to a scholar through her and at the end betrayed her after turning into a puppet for the elder princess and got ordered to kill Xue Fang Fei and also destroying her reputation by framing her of adultery. On the other hand Jian Li was lied against by her step mother at age 8 of almost killing her and making her stepmother lose the her pregnancy, because she has high female power in the household, the little girl was sent to a hall in one of the coldest mountain and was abandon for 10years where she suffer and barely survive.
Fate came in somehow, Xue Fang Fei was buried alive on the same mountain but Jian li saved her while moving around to fetch wood with her maid but when Jian li was trying to sneak out the second time to check up on Xue Fang Fei, she was caught by the hall mistress and was dealt with mercilessly, she fell ill and later die after Xue Fang Fei sneak into the hall to check up on her, seeing the sad incident and their discussion before she die, she decide to embark on her own revenge spree by taking up Jian Li identity, threaten the mistress and was sent back home after 10years with her maid Tong er. At some point, I was scared for her, trying to figure out how she will really play her cards since she have to battle to win, one is taking revenge for the dead Jian Li against her step mom who was hell bent to kill her completely and also her revenge against her fiancee who is now a pawn for the elder princess
Now as the main target, life wasn't easy for her at all since she now have to live a double life in the same city where she was well known but I really give it to her, she have it all up with a convincing twist story anytime her identity almost got revealed. At some point, I had to give it a thought, what if it was the real Jian Li that actually came back to the house seeking for revenge, even though she hated the whole household especially her father for not believing in her and abandon her for 10years to suffer, her personally still look cool and I'm very sure she won't survive 40% of the trouble the stepmother show the new Jian li, if not because she was strong due to how her fiance betray her which opened her eyes to reality of things plus she was really wise, she won't have also survive the trouble.
Plot Twist
The whole fight was between a lady and her suppose sister/step mom, everyone hated her, everyone keep slandering her, putting blame on her just to make sure she was sent away or killed. Truth they say the enemy is always within, they never noticed the real fight within their circle, the more they plan against her, the more the plan bounced back on them, one sister stole the other fiance while planning against the main target (Jian li), it was really funny because they all have their hidden agenda. On the other hand, playing a double role because a big nightmare to the suppose fiance (the scholar) who betray her, his mom and sister, the elder princess who wasn't convinced enough that she is now a new person and plotting against her to get her killed
Nothing beat plotting your own revenge while seeking justice for the wrong done against you and your reputation and along side having people who are ready to support you in making sure your quest is fulfilled and also falling in love along the line, the movie is highly rated with and amazing ending.
