Garden Screens

A few years ago, I planted a white Plumbago shrub in the garden and for the first couple of years it seemed to grow slowly. However, today this wonderful indigenous shrub is a real eye stopper.

It was planted along a wall next to a couple of climbing roses and as time has gone by, the plumbago has inter twined with the roses completely covering the wall and cascading down on both sides.

The lovely white blooms of the plumbago mixed with the pink roses looks really beautiful and together they also act as a security aspect for the property as the roses have some really hectic thorns.

Plumbago can be clipped and used as a shrub or hedge, but I prefer to see it grow wild and free as a climber. It is also available in a pale blue and a dark blue variety and all are extremely hardy plants which require very little care.

Although I love all the varieties, I really enjoy the white one as it looks so beautiful in the evening when the light fades.
