Turning Time Around With My Dublin Donut 2023. Acrylic on loose canvas, 20 x 23"
The warming up time at this latitude is all about patience. We need something to help dream us through a final stretch of stubborn winter that stays for so long, denying our spring. By mid-April, in a kinder climate, there would be baby leaves and peonies and soil smells all around. Today the forecast calls for a balmy 45°F, and a cold rain.
Last night I dreamed of our trip last October to Dublin and Cork, Ireland. The painting above is the memory of Rose getting the best donut she ever had at a shop on King Street. The picture below is her eating it, followed by several photos taken during a very memorable trip.
Donut!

Irish government does not fear its people like mine does. This is the Taoiseach headquarters, secured just enough for a nation that doesn’t carpet bomb other nations.
Near the tree house where we stayed in Cork.
Rose took this panorama from the bell tower of an ancient church.
Walking in Kilarney National Park.
View of Cork at night from tree house balcony.
