Those who sow with tears will reap with joy. Psalms 125:5

Thanks be to Jesus Christ for His overwhelming mercy and grace by which we are saved!

Some days do not bring me as much joy as I would like, but I always have something to thank the Lord for. Even the mere thought that God has saved me from eternal death brings comfort in times of temporary sorrow on earth. Sometimes it is so hard to take my eyes off natural things and put them in God's hands, but still He helps me to change the settings of my soul, which is still so sensitive to itself and all earthly things.

Every disciple of Jesus Christ has remembered these words: Those who sow with tears will reap with joy. (Psalms 125:5) and these words ring especially loud in my heart today. They are a road signpost for finding joy in a lawful way. God's law of sowing and reaping works in this sequence, but few obey it.

But we see in Scripture many people who, despite the temptation to give birth to Ishmael in their lives, were able to obey the Lord, and using the only key to the door of rightful joy, which is patience, to enter into the promises of God. Abraham, after an unsuccessful attempt to help God, still waited for the promised son from his wife Sarah, and gave birth to Isaac, from whom a numerous nation was descended. How much Abraham must have wept before God, but his joy was even greater afterward.

Father, help us, we are weak and feeble, but you are our strength and our help. Forgive us our sins, protect us in times of temptation, and deliver us from the evil one. For Thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever, Amen.
