This is a 5-minute freewrite in response to the prompt from 2/11/2025 "prosecute me"
Feel free to judge me. Read my face like an open book and prosecute me to the fullest extent of the law. I am guilty, I want to confess and it would be a relief to get this all off my chest.
I did my dirt and committed the crime. I'm guilty and it's long past time that I should pay. The judge stands over me hovering tall like a story book titan. The gavel is in his hand and his face is clenched and red. He heard all that the prosecutor said and he agrees I need to pay and there's nothing I can honestly say. I'm past defense and reproach and I should be squashed like a kitchen roach.
The prosecutor has rested his case and the judge is about to administer justice. Instead of going off instinct, I look him in the face with unblinking eyes and say I deserve his judgement and let justice ring.
It's time to pay. I am full of excitement and strangely something that feels like relief snf even joy. Not happiness, mind you but something like contentment. Do you know how much energy it takes to be hide and be on the run?
Prosecute me now don't waste my time. That's all I got left. Strangely, that's the most important commodity we have. I, a condemned man stand before judgement and the judge doesn't hold back. Not one bit. I'm shocked at the sentence and the jury is amazed. His judgement stands and he shouts:
"Depart from me you swine, never return and always remember my mercy shown."
I don't think twice. I step out of the box and walk to the courtroom doors. I look back at the judge and jury staring at me silently. I bow, open the door and walk to a Greyhound bus station to purchase a ticket home.
