Turmeric garden at home

Turmeric is a type of perennial plant, which belongs to Zingiberaceae family. It is mainly found in the South Asian region, especially in India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka where it is widely cultivated. The root of the turmeric plant is underground, and that is what is used as turmeric. The leaves of the plant are long and broad, which can usually be up to 2-3 feet long. Turmeric plants produce small flowers, which may be white or yellowish in appearance.

The main feature of turmeric is its root or rhizome. The root is extracted from the ground and dried into a powder, which is used as a spice and medicine. Its main active ingredient is "curcumin," which gives turmeric its bright color and medicinal properties. Curcumin acts as a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory. It is used in cooking to enhance the flavor and color of food.

The turmeric plant is well known not only as a spice but also as a medicinal plant. It is used to treat digestive problems, skin problems, infections and fever. The use of turmeric in Ayurvedic and Unani medicine is very old. Turmeric is also used as a natural antibiotic. Many people in rural Bangladesh use turmeric for skin care and wound healing.

In addition, modern studies have shown that turmeric can help prevent cancer, reduce the risk of heart disease and treat diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
