Sometimes, a simple idea turns into an exciting project. That’s exactly what happened when my wife discovered the OrbiFlora lamp – a 3D-printed light fixture that blends modern technology with an organic design. In this post, I’ll take you through my journey of printing and assembling this beautiful lamp.
Manchmal wird aus einer einfachen Idee ein spannendes Projekt. Genau das ist passiert, als meine Frau die OrbiFlora-Lampe entdeckt hat – eine 3D-gedruckte Leuchte, die moderne Technologie mit einem organischen Design verbindet. In diesem Beitrag nehme ich dich mit auf meine Reise beim Drucken und Zusammenbauen dieser schönen Lampe.
The Design and Idea | Das Design und die Idee
The OrbiFlora lamp features a rounded, flowing design inspired by nature. Its shape resembles petals or leaves wrapping around a central light source, giving off a soft and warm illumination. This is what caught my attention – the combination of an elegant, organic look and a futuristic 3D-printed structure.
Die OrbiFlora-Lampe hat ein rundes, fließendes Design, das von der Natur inspiriert ist. Ihre Form erinnert an Blütenblätter oder Blätter, die sich um eine zentrale Lichtquelle legen und ein sanftes, warmes Licht erzeugen. Genau diese Kombination aus eleganter, organischer Optik und futuristischer 3D-Druck-Struktur hat mich sofort fasziniert.

For this print, I used my Bambu Lab P1S, a reliable machine that has already handled many of my 3D printing projects. For the material, I used a combination of different filaments:
✅ Greeetech HS-PLA Transparent
✅ SULUN PLA Gray (for the gray version)
✅ Overture PLA Olive Green (for the green version)
This selection provided a smooth surface and the desired color variations.

Diese Auswahl sorgte für eine glatte Oberfläche und die gewünschten Farbvariationen.*
The lamp was printed in multiple parts and then assembled. The total print time was approximately 15 hours, divided into sections for better print quality and to avoid warping.
Die Lampe wurde in mehreren Teilen gedruckt und anschließend zusammengebaut. Die gesamte Druckzeit betrug ungefähr 15 Stunden, aufgeteilt in mehrere Abschnitte, um eine bessere Druckqualität zu gewährleisten und Verformungen zu vermeiden.
Assembly and Wiring | Zusammenbau und Verkabelung
After printing, the challenge was to put everything together. The individual pieces fit perfectly, and I used super glue to secure them. For the light source, I opted for a low-heat LED bulb, which ensures safety and energy efficiency.
Nach dem Drucken bestand die Herausforderung darin, alles zusammenzusetzen. Die einzelnen Teile passten perfekt, und ich verwendete Sekundenkleber, um sie zu befestigen. Als Lichtquelle entschied ich mich für eine niedrigtemperaturige LED-Lampe, denn mein Elektro-Meister sagt immer: "Es gibt kein Leucht-Obst, denn Birnen hängen am Baum!", die für Sicherheit und Energieeffizienz sorgt.
One of the highlights of this project was the hidden wiring. I wanted the lamp to look clean and elegant, so I carefully routed the cable through the structure to keep it invisible.
Ein besonderes Highlight dieses Projekts war die versteckte Verkabelung. Ich wollte, dass die Lampe sauber und elegant aussieht, also habe ich das Kabel sorgfältig durch die Struktur geführt, damit es nicht sichtbar ist.
The Final Result | Das Endergebnis
Once assembled and wired, the lamp turned out even better than expected! The soft glow combined with the organic shape creates a cozy atmosphere, making it a perfect piece for any living space.
Nach dem Zusammenbau und der Verkabelung sah die Lampe noch besser aus als erwartet! Das sanfte Licht in Kombination mit der organischen Form schafft eine gemütliche Atmosphäre und macht sie zu einem perfekten Stück für jeden Wohnraum.
What’s Next? | Was kommt als Nächstes?
This project has inspired me to experiment with more 3D-printed lighting designs. Maybe I’ll try different materials or integrate smart lighting elements in the future. What do you think? Would you print a lamp like this?
