Para un inmigrante vivir en un país nuevo implica desafíos y descubrimientos porque deben adaptarse, construir un hogar con lo que tienen a la mano y encontrar belleza y también nuevos propósitos en medio de lo que es para ellos desconocido, sin embargo, sus raíces siguen firmes, se transforman en un ancla que los mantiene conectados con quienes son y de donde han partido. Los sentimientos se parecen mucho a lo que dice la canción interpretada por Álvaro Torres, Patria Querida.
No importa cuántas millas los separen de su lugar de origen, llevan consigo tradiciones, idioma, música y, sobre todo, valores que aprendió desde pequeño, aquellos que lo guían en cada desición que debe tomar y que se vuelven el vínculo perfecto que los une a su familia, comunidad y a todos los que quedaron atrás de manera física.
Pero este buscar un futuro mejor de manera material también está manchado por la envidia, por la mala costumbre, por la persecución, por el señalamiento y cómo no, por la xenofobia, la cual, no permite entender que la migración es un puente entre dos mundos que pueden convivir en paz.
La migración es un fenómeno tan antiguo como la humanidad misma, y se ha intensificado en nuestra era globalizada planteando desafíos y oportunidades que nos afectan a todos de una forma u otra porque no se trata de un tema de fronteras nada más, sino de algo más profundo que implica derechos humanos, dignidad y justicia social.
Dejando de lado todo lo que implica el lado negativo de la movilidad humana, hay muchas personas se ven obligadas a dejar sus hogares debido a conflictos, persecuciones, desastres naturales y la búsqueda de mejores oportunidades para sus familias, por lo tanto, un inmigrante no debería ser tratado como número, sino como un alma que lleva una historia detrás, también sueños y un inquebrantable deseo de construir una vida mejor.
Es vital recordar que la migración ha sido y sigue siendo una fuente de enriquecimiento cultural, innovación y desarrollo en todo el mundo y no debe ser vista como la oportunidad de contratar mano de obra barata para seguir con la cadena de esclavitud y maltrato laboral. Las sociedades que han abrazado la diversidad y han reconocido el valor de los migrantes han prosperado y avanzado de manera significativa, eso se sabe bien, y es porque también han entendido que las oportunidades de crecer en otras tierras son infinitas y no están ahí para quitar al resto una plaza de trabajo porque el egoísmo no debe imperar, aunque para ser honesta es lo que primero aparece.
Somos conscientes de los desafíos que la migración puede presentar, tanto para los migrantes como para las comunidades que los acogen, por ello, es esencial que exista un trabajo conjunto para crear políticas justas y compasivas que protejan los derechos de los migrantes, garanticen su seguridad y faciliten su integración en las sociedades receptoras.
Obviamente no solo del lado receptor debe existir deberes, sino también del lado inmigrante porque de lo contrario todo pierde sentido y equilibrio y esto ocasiona una gran cantidad de rechazo en muchas ocasiones, no en todas, con razones de peso por la ola de delincuencia y violencia que aparece debido a que muchos también son manipulados por el crimen organizado.
A mi país ha llegado gran cantidad de inmigrantes, la gran mayoría con un aporte positivo, pero tristemente, un grupo pequeño de delincuentes extranjeros puede empañar la buena reputación del resto que solo quiere trabajar y progresar.
Cada país puede reservarse el derecho de admisión a sus tierras, no debería ser impuesto o presionado por los demás, pero sí se constituye en un acto de bondad y humanidad el hecho de permitir el progreso de una persona independientemente de la nación que llegue. Me parece penoso y retrógrado que todavía existan políticas en donde se les permita a las universidades cobrarle más a un estudiante extranjero solo por ser extranjero... gracias a Dios como que esa tendencia ha bajado bastante, pero todavía se mantiene cuando debería ser erradicada.
Creo que como sociedad debemos comprometernos a construir un mundo donde todas las personas puedan vivir en paz, con acceso a oportunidades y sin temor a la violencia o la desesperanza, pero solo queda en deseos, pues en la actualidad pasa todo lo contrario y se constituye en un desafío global que requiere una respuesta global porque juntos como sociedad podemos crear un futuro en donde la migración sea una elección y no una necesidad desesperada, sé que como humanos somos capaces de crear un futuro en donde todos, sin importar su lugar de origen podemos vivir con dignidad y respeto.

For an immigrant, living in a new country involves challenges and discoveries because they must adapt, build a home with what they have at hand and find beauty and also new purposes in the midst of what is unknown to them. However, their roots remain firm, they become an anchor that keeps them connected to who they are and where they came from. The feelings are very similar to what the song performed by Álvaro Torres, Patria Querida.
No matter how many miles separate them from their place of origin, they carry with them traditions, language, music and, above all, values that they learned as children, those that guide them in every decision they must make and that become the perfect link that unites them to their family, community and all those left behind physically.
But this search for a better future in a material way is also tainted by envy, by bad habits, by persecution, by pointing fingers and, of course, by xenophobia, which does not allow us to understand that migration is a bridge between two worlds that can coexist in peace.
Migration is a phenomenon as old as humanity itself, and it has intensified in our globalized era, posing challenges and opportunities that affect us all in one way or another because it is not just a question of borders, but something deeper that involves human rights, dignity and social justice.
Leaving aside everything that involves the negative side of human mobility, there are many people forced to leave their homes due to conflicts, persecution, natural disasters and the search for better opportunities for their families, therefore, an immigrant should not be treated as a number, but as a soul that carries a story behind, as well as dreams and an unbreakable desire to build a better life.
It is vital to remember that migration has been and continues to be a source of cultural enrichment, innovation and development throughout the world and should not be seen as an opportunity to hire cheap labour to continue the chain of slavery and labour abuse. Societies that have embraced diversity and recognised the value of migrants have prospered and advanced significantly, that is well known, and it is because they have also understood that the opportunities to grow in other lands are infinite and are not there to take away a job from others because selfishness should not prevail, although to be honest it is what appears first.
We are aware of the challenges that migration can present, both for migrants and for the communities that host them, therefore, it is essential that there is joint work to create fair and compassionate policies that protect the rights of migrants, guarantee their safety and facilitate their integration into the receiving societies.
Obviously, there must be duties not only on the receiving side, but also on the immigrant side, because otherwise everything loses meaning and balance and this causes a great deal of rejection on many occasions, not always, with weighty reasons due to the wave of crime and violence that appears because many are also manipulated by organized crime.
A large number of immigrants have arrived in my country, the vast majority with a positive contribution, but sadly, a small group of foreign criminals can tarnish the good reputation of the rest who only want to work and progress.
Each country can reserve the right of admission to its lands, it should not be imposed or pressured by others, but it does constitute an act of kindness and humanity to allow the progress of a person regardless of the nation they arrive from. It seems sad and retrograde to me that there are still policies where universities are allowed to charge a foreign student more just for being a foreigner... thank God that trend has decreased quite a bit, but it still remains when it should be eradicated.
I believe that as a society we must commit to building a world where all people can live in peace, with access to opportunities and without fear of violence or despair, but this remains only a wish, because at present the opposite is happening and it constitutes a global challenge that requires a global response because together as a society we can create a future where migration is a choice and not a desperate need. I know that as humans we are capable of creating a future where everyone, regardless of their place of origin, can live with dignity and respect.
