What kind of movies do I watch?

Cinema is an art form that expands our imagination and allows us to be guests in different lives. However, I am often unsure of the genre of movies I want to watch and spend as much time choosing which movie I want to watch as I do watching the movie.

Prioritizing genres such as sci-fi, action, romance, comedy, thriller, horror, etc. means narrowing down the spectrum, and causes me to ignore many productions that I might think should be seen.

I don't realize this in the moment. When I watch a movie that was released years ago, I realize it when I watch it years later and leave myself with questions about why I haven't seen this movie until now.

I would like to say that a while ago, I took a new approach to choosing the movie I wanted to watch, both in terms of covering every genre and expanding the options.

Films based entirely on fictional stories, or films inspired by real life?

Yes, there are now two genres that are influential in determining the movie I watch. Of course, choosing one of them would be the biggest mistake I could make. All I do is to determine which genre suits my mood at that moment and make choices within that genre!

When I watch fiction movies, I like to disconnect from reality and dive into stories created by an unlimited imagination. While watching such movies, there is no need to reason and question reality. I immerse myself in the vast world of imagination and enjoy the story.

Especially in sci-fi and fantasy productions, it is fascinating to cross the boundaries of the world, to travel to space and planets that may or may not exist, or to witness stories where supernatural powers are tested.

Films with technical genius and plot lines that make you think about the future or the past, even if they are a bit confusing and mind-numbing, manage to affect you deeply.

Especially with the themes used in stories set in the future, I involuntarily think about the possibility of it all being real.

I know that some of them are creepy, but as I said at the beginning, when watching fictional productions, it is necessary to disconnect from reality and leave yourself to the limitless imagination.

The biggest advantage of fiction movies is the unlimited creativity. Directors and screenwriters can create a completely free space, independent of real life, where they can create or destroy anything.

It's like writing whatever you want on a white sheet of paper and erasing it. It all depends on the imagination of the hand holding the pen and what it can create, and you are not questioned about what you write or erase. As long as your story is accepted and becomes a successful production, there is no limit to what you can do.

I scale the performance of the actors who bring the characters to life in fiction productions with unlimited imagination, just like the story. It's hard to fake reality, but when you go into unreality, most of what you do can be accepted because it gives me, as a viewer, the opportunity to go beyond the ordinary.

Movies inspired by real life trigger other passions and start my discovery process. The most prominent of these are “real human stories”. These kinds of movies both start the process of discovery and are full of teachings.

I know from the very beginning that what I am watching is real human life and I compare every moment with reality. And most of these productions are based on human resilience, physical or spiritual.

How much does knowing that the inspiration is a real person complicate the role of the actor who brings that person to life? I can't say for sure, but as a viewer, I know how far their performance can take the story.

The power of this kind of movie depends on the actors' ability to make you feel the emotional weight of reality. Knowing that the story really happened makes the emotions of the characters stand out even more than they already do. And I equate the success of the character with the success of the movie.

Also, the development of the character allows me to empathize with the actions of the people in the story and increases the fluency.

Choosing between these two genres has always been difficult for me, but there are ways to make it easier. My mood at that moment guides me about the movie I'm going to watch.

If I'm looking for a fun escape that will spark my imagination, I go for fictional movies, and if I'm looking for touching human stories with life lessons, I go for movies inspired by real life.

Watching a movie is a personal experience and the results can vary for everyone. A movie with unlimited imagination can be a window to freedom, while a movie that shows the realities of the world and the power of human nature can redefine freedom.

What really matters is what you feel, what you learn and how you participate in the story while watching a movie. All successful genres are unique treasures and resources for the moviegoer.
