Professor of La Casa De Papel; Alvaro Monte

There are some characters who take precedence over the movie. When the audience hears their name rather than the name of the movie, it is immediately clear which movie is being talked about. For me, the Professor character in La Casa De Papel was one of the names that supported this statement.

Alvaro Monte managed to create his own audience with the character of the Professor, who was characterized by his intelligence rather than his appearance. As one of his fans, the most important characteristic I remember about him was that he calculated everything in advance in his robbery plans and always had a second plan.

Thinking of every possibility is perhaps one of the best strategies you can have. Whatever you are dealing with, you will always be one step ahead and enjoy the advantages of having the ability to read the future. Having the luck factor on your side while doing all this can be considered as a reward for what you have already tried because luck has always been on the side of those who want and make an effort.

If you pay attention in the series, luck was always on his side when things went wrong and he received his reward together with the gang he led. The reward is always to follow the plan to the end or to achieve the goal by putting the second plan into action when necessary.

The character, who stands out with his sympathetic appearance and humane behavior as well as his intelligence, has created a solid audience behind him, despite playing the villain. I am not talking about the audience gathered at the robbery site in the series, I am talking about the audience that supported him on the screen.

There are heroes hidden in all of us who can exhibit Professor-like behavior and stand up to the system. I hope they continue to hide because seriously; there is no need for heroism that can get a man in trouble!

Being aware of something does not mean that you can defeat it alone or with your gang. When the difference between fiction and reality is painfully experienced, it can be too late. In the fiction created by La Casa De Papel, the robbers are portrayed as heroes and those who are tasked with ensuring justice are portrayed on the same side as the forces of evil. In fact, considering and taking into account that the target is the system, it might be more accurate to say that the others are extras.

Alvaro Monte, with his character of the Professor and his gang, turns being aware into a path to be traveled rather than an option. As we move along the path, we can think of what is seen as stepping out of fiction and into the real world.

Those who choose to close their eyes to what they see are the same people who will one day close their ears to the voices. Those who do not want to be seen today and those who do not want to be heard tomorrow are the owners of the power provided by the system and money. As long as we don't see or hear, the only difference between us and them is the slice of the pie that cannot be taken away.

If I admit that I have fallen into the mistake of thinking and acting like the Professor while watching him, I feel like saying that the few sentences above are not mine, but his. No, the sentences are mine, but I have the side effect of being influenced by the Professor of La Casa De Papel.

I think most of us have either been possessed by the Professor or have been waiting for him to come out of hiding. Maybe not for his actions, but for the consequences, Alvaro Morte may have awakened a sleeping beauty. Maybe the Professor is a crypto fan!

Okay, nobody is going to pick up a gun and rob the first bank they find, nobody is going to gather a few people around them and form a gang, but they will live with awareness and protect themselves economically from the system. Who is the system? What does it do? I don't know and I don't want to know, but the names of the cities the Professor uses might give some clues.

Is the Professor just a series character or a hero? For me he is the hero character of La Casa De Papel, brought to life by Alvaro Morte. His reflections may vary for each of us and create different perspectives. Nevertheless, we will have a hard time being convinced that he is a villain.

My next post will be about the character of Berlin, the madman of the series, who tries to carve out a space for himself in the shadow of the Professor character in La Casa De Papel. Until then, let's watch/listen to the duo in action. Thank you for being here and reading.
