Hello everyone, I am happy to be with you again after a short break. I hope that the next separations will be as short as possible and the negativities that we encounter unintentionally in the ordinary flow of life will be replaced by beauties.
With its impressive atmosphere and tense plot; Joy Ride, which I think successfully reflects the horror and thriller genre, was remarkable as one of the thrillers that progressed in the road adventure style and managed to keep the tension high by attracting the audience to the story.
Although there were some gaps in the story and plot, I can safely say that I liked the movie with the fluency and the plot that constantly raised the tension, time flowed quickly and I liked the movie.
The fact that the cast is young and that the movie progresses in the style of a road adventure with two people at the beginning and then a third person, and that a simple event grows into an avalanche and confronts the characters again and again, were the details that attracted my attention as elements that never slowed down the pace and constantly increased the tension.
Although the mockery of a truck driver through the CB radio during the journey is the moment when the fuse of the story is lit, the questioning of the characters' own lives until that moment and the ability of the three characters to meet at a common point are reflected to the audience with a very beautiful narrative.
University student Lewis Thomas (played by Paul Walker) gives an effective performance both in the moments where he makes fun of the truck driver over the radio and in his fondness for his childhood sweetheart Venna (played by Leelee Sobieski). At every moment when the character takes responsibility, it is almost impossible to question the path he takes and the decisions he makes, because he gives the image of what I would do in the same situation with confidence.
The atmosphere of the movie was very effective in creating and maintaining tension. It is easy to create tension, but it is difficult to sustain it with the same momentum. I remember this from some movies. The isolated roads, the dark night landscapes, the ever-increasing sense of danger during the road adventure were definitely worth seeing.
Another plus of the movie was that the pace was balanced, starting slowly and building up steadily, and the suspense element was used at the right times. The sense of unseen threat may be seen as a small detail that adds to the tension while watching the movie, but I have to admit that it was quite effective for me.
There were no characters that I could call bad performances, but despite that, I think the director deserves the biggest applause. He knew how to use the smallest details to his advantage and to increase the impact of the movie's story on the audience. For example; I can show the mystery of the character Rusty Nail and the sense of threat he creates with his voice.
I especially recommend Joy Ride to those who are looking for an impressive thriller and to those who love road adventure movies. If you can adapt yourself to the story where the basic elements of suspense and horror are successfully used, I am sure you will watch it breathlessly.
Thank you for being here and reading. I wish you the most beautiful surprises in the ordinary course of life. Take care and goodbye!
