I give the biggest share of credit to the characters, especially the main characters. Both characters were very entertaining, funny and very successful in reflecting their own truths.
In treasure hunt movies, reaching the goal by placing the puzzle pieces; both excitement and curiosity are triggered, and fluency can be achieved quite easily for the audience. I have always loved all treasure hunt movies that resemble puzzle solving and I have had an extra fun time.
The movie, which gives historical messages at the beginning and focuses on history for a while, turns into a genre that promises fun and adventure. Kento Yamazaki, who plays the character of Saichi Sugimoto, who believes he is immortal, takes part in the fun moments of the movie with his determined and unrealistic stance.
Anna Yamada, who plays Asirpa, a late addition to the film who suddenly becomes the focal point, became my favorite actress with her watchable appearance. The character was fun, funny and witty and was the most effective character in the movie.
I choose to overlook some of the shortcomings in the story since the movie is a prequel, but I consider the lack of an ending to be the biggest loss of the movie. Whether you continue the story or not, at least add an intermediate ending so that the story is not left unfinished in the minds of the viewers.
Golden Kamuy is a treasure hunt movie, but unfortunately I can't say that because of the incomplete ending. There is a treasure, there are those who are after the treasure, there is a way to reach the treasure, there is an effort for the treasure, but there is no treasure! It is so obvious that there will be sequels and the treasure is left for later films, but the deficiency in the story is deepened as well as not eliminated.
