What is going on? Do people still go out to eat? If you haven't been living under a rock you've seen how high restaurant prices are today.

Reports of ridiculously priced restaurant items has been going on for years. Most recently, the Waffle House has increased its price on eggs and other staples following suit with the trend.

It's crazy to me the people are still going out to eat. As a middle class American, I simply can't justify the high prices at all. I used to be a huge fan of fast food and some of the fast casual chains, but in today's world it just doesn't make sense. I can remember eating Big Macs for $5 or less and today they're just too expensive for my wallet.

What is the future of the restaurant industry? I don't really see one in the United States in the future. Automation has a chance to revolutionize the industry and change it. This is unfortunate, but imaging the potential to purchase a robot that makes and curates food in the style of famous chefs. Other than that I just don't see this as a sustainable industry at all.

Am I being too pessimistic? What are your thoughts?
