This film is rated R for violence and language. It depicts the horror of war, and begins with the storming of Normandy in which American soldiers died taking bunkers while using ships to access the coast of France. My grandfather was at the battle of Normandy, and echoed the sentiment that it was chaotic and frightening.
The story follows private Ryan, whose brothers were killed in World War II, which entitles him to return home. They showed this movie on television in the late 1990s, and it made the news for the content being shown there. The horrid of war were unmasked, and a few years later we were drug into the 20 year war in Iraq and Afghanistan.
