Litchi tree is a tropical fruit tree that grows mainly in China, India, Thailand, Malaysia and other Southeast Asian countries. But now it is cultivated in many countries of the world, especially in Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and also popular in South China. The litchi tree usually grows to a height of 10 to 12 meters and is a medium-sized shade tree. Plant characteristics The leaves of the litchi plant are long, simple and sharp, which are densely arranged in branches. Fibre: The trunk of the plant is tough and rough. The stems of the tree are wide and bushy. Litchi fruits are round or oval in shape, usually red or pink in color. It has white or golden colored sweet juicy pods and a strong, scaly exterior. Lychee flowers are small and delicate flowers that bloom in clusters at the top of the plant's branches. The flowers are small and white or light yellow in color. Usually between February and April, litchi plants start to bloom. The flowers are pollinated by insects, especially bees. Flower size: Each flower is small and white in color. It has five petals and a long stamen, which helps in pollination. Bunch litchi flowers bloom in clusters and each cluster contains many flowers. The flowers in the cluster are spaced apart from each other, but the entire cluster emits a sweet fragrance. Lychee Fruit Production When the lychee flower is pollinated, the plant begins to produce fruit. Fruits take 7-8 weeks to fully mature. One by one the fruits ripen and soft, sweet and juicy lychees begin to emerge from the tree. Its shell is pure white and very tasty to eat. Cultivation of litchi tree: Cultivation of litchi tree requires warm and humid climate. It should have well-organized water drainage system to grow it well, as water accumulation can cause the roots of the plant to rot. The plant loves the sun, so it needs enough sunlight during the day. The winter temperature of the litchi tree does not fall below 10 degrees Celsius. However, the plant cannot tolerate excessive cold or severe winter.

লিচু গাছ একটি উষ্ণমণ্ডলীয় ফল গাছ যা প্রধানত চীন, ভারত, থাইল্যান্ড, মালয়েশিয়া এবং অন্যান্য দক্ষিণ-পূর্ব এশীয় দেশে জন্মায়। তবে এখন এটি পৃথিবীর নানা দেশে চাষ করা হয়, বিশেষত বাংলাদেশ, ভারত, পাকিস্তান এবং দক্ষিণ চীনেও এটি জনপ্রিয়। লিচু গাছ সাধারণত ১০ থেকে ১২ মিটার উচ্চতায় বৃদ্ধি পায় এবং এটি মাঝারি আকারের ছায়াযুক্ত গাছ।গাছের বৈশিষ্ট্য লিচু গাছের পাতা লম্বা, সরল এবং তীক্ষ্ণ, যা শাখায় ঘনভাবে সজ্জিত থাকে।তন্তু: গাছটির কাণ্ড শক্ত ও খসখসে থাকে। গাছের ডালপালা প্রশস্ত এবং আড়ালযুক্ত হয়। লিচুর ফল গোলাকার বা ওভাল আকৃতির, যা সাধারণত লাল বা গোলাপী রঙের হয়। এর মধ্যে সাদা বা সোনালি রঙের মিষ্টি রসালো শাঁস থাকে এবং একটি শক্তিশালী, খোসাযুক্ত বাইরের অংশ থাকে।লিচু ফুল একটি ছোট এবং অতি সূক্ষ্ম ফুল, যা গাছের ডালের মাথায় গুচ্ছভাবে ফুটে। ফুলগুলো ক্ষুদ্র এবং সাদা বা হালকা হলুদ রঙের হয়। সাধারণত ফেব্রুয়ারি থেকে এপ্রিল মাসের মধ্যে লিচু গাছে ফুল ফুটতে শুরু করে। ফুলগুলো পোকামাকড়, বিশেষত মৌমাছির মাধ্যমে পরাগায়িত হয়।ফুলের আকার: প্রতিটি ফুল ছোট এবং সাদা রঙের। এর মধ্যে পাঁচটি পাপড়ি থাকে এবং একটি দীর্ঘ পুরুষাঙ্গ থাকে, যা পরাগ তৈরিতে সহায়ক।গুচ্ছ লিচু গাছের ফুল গুচ্ছভাবে ফুটে এবং প্রতিটি গুচ্ছ অনেকগুলি ফুল ধারণ করে। গুচ্ছের মধ্যে ফুলগুলো একে অপরের থেকে খানিকটা দূরে থাকে, কিন্তু পুরো গুচ্ছটি একটি মিষ্টি সুগন্ধি ছড়ায়।লিচু ফলের উৎপাদন লিচু ফুলের পরাগায়ন হলে গাছ থেকে ফল বের হতে শুরু করে। ফলগুলি পূর্ণাঙ্গভাবে বৃদ্ধি পেতে ৭-৮ সপ্তাহ সময় নেয়। একে একে ফলগুলো পাকা এবং গাছ থেকে নরম, মিষ্টি ও রসালো লিচু বের হতে থাকে। এর শাঁস একেবারে সাদা এবং খেতে খুব সুস্বাদু হয়।লিচু গাছের চাষ: লিচু গাছের চাষের জন্য উষ্ণ এবং আর্দ্র আবহাওয়া প্রয়োজন। এটি ভালভাবে বাড়ানোর জন্য সুসংগঠিত জল নিষ্কাশন ব্যবস্থা থাকা উচিত, কারণ জল জমে থাকার ফলে গাছের শিকড় পচে যেতে পারে। গাছটি রোদ প্রিয়, তাই দিনের সময় পর্যাপ্ত সূর্যালোক প্রয়োজন।লিচু গাছের শীতকালীন তাপমাত্রা ১০ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াসের নিচে না পড়লে ভালো ফলন হয়। তবে গাছটি অতিরিক্ত ঠান্ডা বা তীব্র শীত সহ্য করতে পারে না।
