Bangladesh is a free country. In 1971, this country became independent after 9 months of war. The hero of that war was Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, under his leadership this country became independent.
After 9 months of fighting, Pakistani Yahya Khan was forced to surrender on 16 December 1971
As a symbol of that victory, Mujibnagar of Meherpur built an idol of Vijay Sriti.
