Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Today I'll be sharing my take on Ulfga the Blighted. She is the new promo card in the voucher shop.
Ulfga the Blighted
Lore
Her lore is pretty grim. She once was a proud warrior and commander until she was struck down by Dr. Blight's plague. As a result, she lost her limbs and can no longer use a weapon. She's also a walking toxicity that infects her enemy while she herself is immune to death.
Stats, Abilities and Disabilities
Ulfga is a four mana, no-attack unit and she cannot benefit from Weapons Training ability as stated in her lore. It's not that she don't know how to use weapons, it's that she can't because of her deteriorated arms. She's a pure tank that debuffs the opponent at the same time.
At max level, she has 4 speed 4 armor and 6 health. She almost has the same stats as level 1 compared to max level. However, her abilities increase as she levels up. At max level she has the complete abilities to debuff the opponent. She has Slow and Weaken decreasing the enemy's speed and health. She also has the new ability, Poison Burst which applies poison to whoever attacks her and a chance to also poison the unit adjacent to the attacker. She also has Rebirth, allowing her to revive once per battle. On the other hand, she has her disability, Untrainable.
Position in Battle
As a non-attacker unit, she can be placed in the first position as a pure tank to soak damage and debuff the enemy at the same time. A healer and armor repairer to support her would be ideal to sustain her so she keeps debuffing the enemy. She can also be placed in the back to be a pure debuffer and at the same time catch enemy Sneak attackers.
Rulesets
She can be great in any ruleset except for:
Reverse Speed - Her 4 speed would be a disadvantage in this ruleset and her Slow ability will actually buff the opponent.
Unprotected - Losing her 4 armor will be a big disadvantage. With only 5 health to tank, it's not as sustainable as having an armor.
Final Thoughts
Ulfga is a great unit to add to your collection. She can definitely be a valuable addition to anyone's deck with her debuff abilities. On the other hand, she costs 1500 vouchers or around $20 per BCX. I'd like her to be at least level 3 to have her full debuff abilities so that's 6 BCX or $120, a very hefty price. It's up to you if you want to buy her.
