Greetings to my dear blurtians, I am Mnkong Emmanuel Saah of Bamenda Cameroon, and I would like to share with you what I witnessed this week in my Bamenda Community, of the north west region of Cameroon. This week, I watched with great dismay the epileptic school resumption in the Cameroon anglophone regions. And I begin to wonder aloud what the future holds for the young people of these zones of the country. And I feel so bad for the children of the of these zones who will at the end write the common competitive or end of course examinations with the children from other zones and regions of the Country who had started school since September 9th, 2024, the official resumption date. Education, they say is the fundamental rights of every child, but this has been denied, for these children. The question I ask is; "what does the future holds for these children in the global space, considering that they are expecting to fit themselves in the global community where mediocracy is tantamount to academic shortcomings! What will they have them do,in future, when they come face to face with the global academic and socioeconomic challenges. I would like to share with my Blurt Space Community members what I witnessed in my Community this week of the school resumption.

THE CASE OF BAMENDA AND IT'S ENVIRONS!
Schools in Bamenda witnessed a timide resumption after the two weeks lockdown. Due to the skepticity of the resumption and fear of the unknown, most parents kept their children at home. And the few that attended under fear of insecurity, and hopelessness had a rather short-lived stay in some schools with threats of kidnappings. However some schools have demonstrated bravery and fearlessness thereby breaking the odds. Meanwhile some couple of schools in highly ( red zones ), had their schools structures tampered with, like the case of a school in Bali Kumbat, a locality in Ndop west, of Bali Kumbat Sub division, of Ngoketunjiah division, of the north west region, a crisis striken English speaking section of Cameroon. And another incident that happened in a school in Mankon Bamenda, where a student was kidnapped. Then what about other areas? A question yet to be answered ( affair à suivre ).

Bamenda, witnessed back home threats to students who attended school the first few days after the lockdown! They risk kidnaps and killings as the case might be in some circumstances. While their teachers fear for victimization, kidnaps and lost of lives as case could be.

Schools administrators in some isolated institutions halted admission of students, fearing for their lives. Their offices remained seemingly vacant.

Students who thought they were free to start learning after the two weeks separatist lockdown, remained pleplexed on school corridors. What a pathetic situation for the children, who found themselves in the state of dilemma!!!

Infact something needs to be done and pretty fast to restore the dwindling academic shortcomings for the children in these anglophone regions of Cameroon. Ensuring that there's meaningful dialogue to solve the sociopolitical upheaval that has been bargained with the children's fundamental right to education.
