Once again, before I begin, I would like to thank @saboin for creating the awesome Caturday community on Blurt, a fantastic space for us cat lovers to connect, share stories, and simply indulge in all things feline!
What is Caturday?
The term "Caturday" is a playful combination of the words "cat" and "Saturday." It originated on the internet as a way to celebrate and dedicate a day specifically to cats. Caturday has become a popular meme and social media trend, where cat lovers share funny pictures, videos, and anecdotes about their feline friends. It's a lighthearted and whimsical expression that highlights the joy and fascination people have for their furry companions.
So, Caturday is just around the corner, and what better time to look back on the first-year journey of my two adorable furballs, Snow and Salmon. Get ready for some whiskered tales and heart-melting moments!
If you missed the post "My Journey Back to Cats: Snow & Salmon", I invite you to read it first.
A Year of Indoor Adventures
When we brought Snow and Salmon home, we made a deliberate decision to keep them indoors for the first year. Our primary concern was their safety, and we also wanted to prevent them from straying too far from our house or developing a habit of spending their lives outdoors.
Initially, I was a bit uncertain about this advice, as I had been accustomed to cats freely roaming outdoors, sometimes even going a whole week without seeing them. However, it pleasantly surprised me that keeping them indoors during their early months turned out to be a wise decision.
In Thailand, our garden occasionally welcomes exotic visitors like monitor lizards and snakes, including cobras and vipers, due to the presence of a palm grove behind our housing estate. This is precisely why I wanted to ensure that I could keep a close watch on my cats at all times.
Clean and Curious: Breaking Stereotypes
I have to admit, I had my doubts about their litter box skills. I mean, two kittens at once, how could they possibly manage, right? But I was wrong! Snow surprised us all by taking charge right from the start. She mastered the litter box in no time and even took it upon herself to teach Salmon the art of covering up and keeping his little paws clean. It was a sight to behold!
Two Unique Personalities
Snow and Salmon, possess distinctive personalities that add a special charm to our home. Snow is a calm and affectionate cat, always ready to snuggle up and share moments of tranquility. However, it took her some time to fully embrace her cuddly side, which made the bond we eventually formed even more precious.
Now, Salmon, on the other hand, is a ball of pure energy! Holding him for more than a minute feels like an Olympic sport. But you know what? He's a real charmer. He's always up for some attention and playtime. After a long day, when he sees me, he comes running for a massage, rewarding me with the rumbling purr of a diesel engine. Snow's purr, though softer, has its own special melody.
Adventures and Trust
During their first year, we had only been away from home for a long 4-day weekend. Luckily, we have an amazing friend and neighbor who adores our furry pals just as much as we do.
This friend, who was actually the first developer I hired 10 years ago when I set up my IT company here and who was just out of Prince of Songkla University, looked after Snow and Salmon while we were away.
To be honest, we were a bit nervous about how they would react to our absence. But guess what? After giving us the cold shoulder for a whole 15 minutes upon our return, they were back to their cuddly, affectionate selves. Phew!
Food that Keeps Them Purring
Food plays an important role in the lives of our furry friends. We have chosen to feed Snow and Salmon a balanced diet consisting mainly of nutritious croquettes. From time to time, we offer them delicious salmon or tuna snacks, to satisfy their taste buds and make mealtimes even more enjoyable.
Brother-Sister Shenanigans
Despite their different breeds—Snow being a Scottish Fold and Salmon a mixed Persian and Thai—the bond between them has grown stronger with each passing day. They have developed a remarkable brother-sister relationship, with Snow often teasing her mischievous brother in the morning, and Salmon returning the favor in his own playful way during the day.
Like all siblings, they occasionally have their squabbles, but their feline wisdom ensures that harmony is restored swiftly.
That's a wrap on the first-year adventure of Snow and Salmon! It's been a wild ride filled with laughter, cuddles, and endless love. We can't wait to see what the future holds for our dynamic duo. Stay tuned for more pawsome tales!
That is one thing I have noticed about cats who take a long time to bond with you: once they do form a bond, that bond is virtually unbreakable.
Thanks for posting in the #caturday community!
Happy Caturday!
It's true that once you've succeeded in creating this bond, it's extremely strong and opens a new door in the relationship 😊

It is quite dangerous for the cats if you have Kitties that live in a place where there are poisonous snakes around considering that they all want to go out from the confines of your house, the Cat can either be overly curious or instinctively hunt when they see moving creatures as they might get hurt or die.
But anyway, cats are sweet and you can easily tame them by feeding them and being nice to them, you will definitely gain their trust and affection. I like cats when they are a mouser type and seeing them with a mouse in their mouths is really beneficial to its owners. 👍
Congratulations 👏

What a pair of beautiful cats... or kittens, as it were! Around here, we believe in indoor cats and outside only "with Hooman supervision!" Our predators are not as exotic as yours, but we have roaming coyotes, bobcats, eagles and even an occasional cougar and bear. Better safe than sorry!
Happy Caturday!
=^..^=
Thanks 😺 For me coyotes, bobcats, eagles, cougar and bear are exotic as I have never been in contact with them either when I lived in France or since I have been living in Thailand 😉
Happy Caturday too!
