Eternal memories at Wat Taling Chan

Hello everyone

I traveled to attend my younger brother's funeral at
Wat Taling Chan in Bangkok. I felt very sorry for the loss and was very sad. When I arrived at Wat Taling Chan

But amidst the sadness, I felt the beauty and tranquility of this temple. It was a different funeral venue from the southern one that I was familiar with.

The funeral ceremony was held simply, but it looked beautiful in the style of people in the capital. The temple was peaceful and shady with many kinds of big trees.

It made my sad and saddened mind gradually calm down.

In addition to capturing the atmosphere of my brother's funeral, I also walked around Wat Taling Chan and found that it is a beautiful temple with a long history.

History of Wat Taling Chan

Wat Taling Chan is an ancient temple built since the late Ayutthaya period, but there is no clear evidence of who built it.

However, the artistic evidence that appears in the temple can indicate that this temple has been here since the Ayutthaya period and has been continuously renovated until today.

Wat Taling Chan is a temple of the people, belonging to the Mahanikaya sect.
Located in Khlong Chak Phra, Taling Chan District, Bangkok

The interesting thing about Wat Taling Chan is the beautiful Ubosot. Inside is the principal Buddha image, which is very beautiful.
And named Phutthamonkhonsit Niramit Prachanat
It is a large Buddha image in royal attire
In the style of the Emperor sitting in the Mara-Vijaya posture

In addition, there are 2 more Buddha images in royal attire sitting in the Mara-Vijaya posture, and 2 smaller Buddha images in the posture of calming the ocean standing on either side of the principal Buddha image, which is in the style of the middle Ayutthaya period

Wat Taling Chan is not only a place for funerals, but also a place for meditation and an important tourist attraction.

History of Luang Pu Kleep Phuttarakkhito

Luang Pu Kleep is a monk who is a strict practitioner of Dhamma. He has high compassion and helps those in need. He is respected by people in the community and many disciples. Because of his devotion to his conduct and virtue, people respect him as a spiritual refuge. In addition, Luang Pu Kleep is a person with strong magical knowledge. He has created many amulets that are popular among collectors and those who respect him, such as Luang Pu Kleep coins.

This temple also has a beautiful church with outstanding architecture, especially the entrance to the church that reflects faith and meticulous construction. The entrance to the church is not only a passageway to the sacred area, but also a feature that conveys faith and respect for Buddhism. Walking through the door into the church is the beginning of entering the world of Dharma and peace.

Meru Wat Taling Chan
The decoration is very different from my home. Religious ceremonies here at Wat Taling Chan have complete facilities and services for funeral arrangements.

Cremation ceremony for my younger brother at Wat Taling Chan

At Wat Taling Chan, which was quiet, amidst the happiness of family, relatives, and friends, today was the day our hearts were broken as we had to send our beloved one off for the last time.

2:00 PM, the movement of our beloved one

My younger brother’s body was placed in a coffin with full honors, placed on a cart decorated with flowers. The procession slowly left Salaya amidst the peace. Relatives and friends gathered to send their final farewells.

Amidst the grief, relatives gathered for a religious ceremony to dedicate merit to their late brother. The monks gave a sermon to remind relatives to ease their suffering.

17:00 Flame of Mourning

The flames gradually rose from the crematorium. The chanting continued. Relatives and friends stood looking at the flames with mourning. I pray that my brother will go to a good place in the next life. I would like to give encouragement to all the family members.

I think that this visit to Wat Taling Chan has allowed me to experience the beauty of Thai temples and learn about the cultural differences in funeral arrangements between the South and Bangkok. I would like to thank Wat Taling Chan for giving me peace and beauty during this difficult time.
