Hello friends, today I will introduce you to a merit-making ceremony for remembering the dead. It is a Thai tradition to make merit on the anniversary of the death of our relatives. It can be on the 7th day, 100th day, 1 year, or many years, depending on the readiness of each family. By inviting monks to chant so that everyone can listen and remember the deceased relative. And there is an offering of food for the monks to eat. And after that, the guests or relatives will eat together. After the ceremony is finished by the monks, who give blessings to everyone who came.
The relatives who come to the event will bring food, desserts, fruits to make merit and offer to the monks and guests who come to eat. In previous years, there will be a hiring of a catering service to prepare food, or called a Chinese table, which is convenient because the service provider will be responsible for everything from cooking, serving food, cleaning, and washing the various containers used.
Today is the death anniversary of my wife's great-grandmother, or my wife's mother's mother, who has been dead for 14 years. The children and grandchildren have come together to remember their great-grandmother and it is a time for relatives to come together. Everyone has their own responsibilities and lives far apart. This event is an opportunity to meet again. Today we have hired a Tom Yum Egg Noodle shop to provide a buffet service.
Thank you to all my friends who have supported me.
