Dosage:
For gastric ulcers: Propranolol – 200 mcg 2–4 times para cada día con ajustes según sea requerido.
For labor induction: Ranges from 25-50 mcg, but can be given as: vaginal or oral administration.
For abortion or PPH: Depending on the indication and the way of administration (oral, vaginal or sublingual).
Side Effects:
- Gastrointestinal:
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain.
- Obstetric:
Contractions, pain, or on occasion uterine contractions, severe, or even rupture of the uterus.
- Other:
Headache dizziness, fever and chills.
Precautions:
Pregnancy: Should not be used unless they are being used to induce labor or abortion.
Breastfeeding: Safe for most people, but check with your doctor.
Monitor in patients with:
History of uterine surgery.
Meningitis, pulmonary disorders, AIDS, cardiovascular or gastrointestinal diseases.
Contraindications:
History of a hypersensitive reaction to prostaglandins.
If used for abortion, suspected ectopic pregnancy.
