After watching my husband work tirelessly for months, I decided it was time to give him a break and treat him to a long weekend of relaxation. I wanted a place close to home but with a setting that feels like a true escape, so my search led me to the beautiful Phuket Laguna area. 🌴✨
Do you remember in some of my previous posts I mentioned that Phuket was once famous for its tin mining industry? 🏞️ Well, the Laguna Phuket area was actually one of the largest tin mines on the island before it was transformed. In the 1980s, this entire region underwent an incredible rehabilitation project, turning what was once a mining site into a lush, tranquil paradise. Today, it’s home to some of Phuket’s most luxurious resorts, with direct access to peaceful lagoons and the sparkling Andaman Sea. 🌊🌿✨
While browsing on Agoda, I stumbled upon a fantastic 70% discount for a weekend stay at SAii Laguna Phuket, located on the serene Bang Tao Beach. 🏖️ With the weather forecast looking perfect, I didn’t hesitate for a second and booked a spacious family room. The best part? It’s only a 10-minute drive from our house!
We left home at 1:50 pm and arrived at the hotel at 2 pm, just in time for check-in. Stepping into the lobby feels like being transported to another era. The design combines traditional Thai architecture with a collection of beautiful antique furnishings that give the space a sense of timeless elegance. The soaring ceiling, adorned with intricately woven hanging lights, creates a warm, inviting glow, while the walls are decorated with vintage photographs capturing the rich history of Phuket.

I couldn’t resist taking a moment to relax on one of the cozy benches, surrounded by a gallery of framed pictures that tell stories of the island’s heritage. There’s even a charming cabinet offering complimentary snacks, a lovely gesture that adds a touch of hospitality to the entire experience. 😊🌟
After checking in, the friendly staff escorted us to our room. The resort is divided into two distinct zones: one nestled by the tranquil lake, shaded by lush trees, and the other facing Bang Tao Beach with the expansive swimming pool in view. We chose a room in the beachside zone, offering direct access to the pool and a gorgeous view of the sea. 🌊🏝️
Walking through the long corridor that connects the lobby to the rooms, I couldn't help but notice the charming, slightly aged look of the doors and hallways. It’s clear that this resort has a bit of history behind it, which only adds to its character and charm. 🏨✨
Upon researching, I discovered that SAii Laguna Phuket has a rich history. Originally established as part of the Laguna Phuket complex, the resort has undergone several transformations over the years. It was previously known as the Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort before being rebranded as SAii Laguna Phuket.
The room features two comfortable double beds, each adorned with vibrant Thai-style pillows and bed runners. There's also a cozy sofa bed nestled by the window, creating a perfect spot to relax and take in the serene views of the pool and the beach. We loved spending time here, especially during the evenings when the soft light of the sunset reflects beautifully over the water. 🌅✨
The bathroom was spacious and well-organized, offering a sleek, modern design with a rainfall shower and ample counter space. 🛁 Everything was sparkling clean, but a little heads up: this hotel doesn't provide toothbrushes and toothpaste. Luckily, I always come prepared with my own kit. It’s become a habit of mine since not all hotels offer these essentials. 😅
Our room also had a glass door leading directly to a small patio area with a table and chairs, perfect for enjoying the view of the pool and the beach. The direct access made it very convenient for us to step out and relax by the water anytime we wanted.
After settling in and unpacking our bags, I couldn't wait to explore the surroundings. The hotel’s design is a beautiful blend of applied Thai architecture, spanning three stories. Nestled between the serene beach and a tranquil lake, the whole area radiates a sense of calm, making it the perfect escape for a relaxing weekend.
The resort is full of beautiful spots including a spacious gravel courtyard between the lobby and the restaurant offering an incredible view of the Andaman Sea. 🌊 The terrace is a perfect spot to unwind, feel the gentle breeze, and listen to the soothing sound of the waves.
Just take a look at the view from this gravel courtyard! 😍 The sight of the turquoise sea merging with the horizon is absolutely breathtaking. It’s the kind of view that instantly puts you in a holiday mood, making it hard to resist lounging here all day. 🌴☀️
And here’s one of my favorite spots in the resort — a charming little pond filled with vibrant Koi carp. The reflections on the water combined with the lush greenery make it feel like a serene oasis. Just look at those gorgeous fish swimming gracefully! 🐟✨
But let's not reveal everything just yet — I’ll save some surprises for later! One unique feature of this resort is its direct connection to one of Bang Tao's picturesque lakes via a small pier. 🌊✨ How about a ferry ride to explore the serene waters of Bang Tao's interconnected lakes and canals?
These tranquil waterways were once part of the tin mining industry, just like the lagoon area I mentioned earlier. Today, they form a peaceful network that winds through lush landscapes and offers glimpses of local wildlife. It’s a lovely way to discover a quieter side of Phuket! 🚤🌿
We strolled down to the lake beside the hotel’s pier. After a short wait, a ferry approached and docked where we were standing. I couldn’t resist asking the boatman about its route and whether it was possible to take a ride around the lake. To my surprise, he said that the ferry picks up guests from different hotels within the Laguna complex, and the best part? The ride was free—already included in the room rate! It takes about 30-40 minutes, so we happily decided to hop on and enjoy a scenic tour of the lake. ⛴️🌿
The weather couldn’t have been better during our lake tour—the sky was clear, a gentle breeze was blowing, and the sunlight danced on the water’s surface. It was the perfect setting to relax and take in the peaceful surroundings. 🌤️🌿
The ferry continued its journey across the serene lake, making brief stops at the piers of various hotels along the way. It was lovely to see tourists gathered, waiting to hop on board and cross over to another hotel or explore different parts of the lagoon area. The atmosphere felt both vibrant and peaceful—a perfect mix of relaxation and anticipation. 🚤🏞️
We then sailed through a narrow, serene canal leading to another lake. The canal is flanked by lush trees, creating a canopy of shade and adding to the tranquil atmosphere. 🌿🌞
The ferry gently glided under a bridge, much to the excitement of my son. He couldn't hide his joy, waving and pointing as we passed beneath, adding a lovely touch of adventure to our peaceful ride. 😊🌉
After navigating through the lush canal, we arrived at another expansive lake. Here, you'll find one of the iconic hotels from the Laguna resort chain nestled along the water's edge. This lake is bustling with activities like sailing and kayaking, making it a popular spot for guests to enjoy some water sports and the beautiful views.
Each pier is beautifully designed, like this one, built into a stunning Thai-style house by the lake. It’s a perfect spot to pause and admire the serene reflections on the water, surrounded by the lush greenery of the area.
There is also a well-known floating restaurant on the lake, popular for its unique ambiance. It’s accessible via the ferry service that operates across the lake, offering guests a scenic ride before dinner. The restaurant opens from around 5 pm until midnight, serving a variety of Thai and international dishes. It’s a great spot to enjoy a meal while watching the sunset over the tranquil waters.
Then, the ferry made its way back towards the hotel’s pier, wrapping up our little lake adventure. I was truly impressed by the picturesque scenery and the chance to glide past several stunning resorts, all while enjoying the serene beauty of the surrounding nature.
After our ferry tour around the serene lake, my son was eager to take a swim. 🌊 We decided to relax by the poolside, right next to the beach. The evening breeze was cool and refreshing, making it the perfect time for a dip. Watching him float joyfully while the sun began to set was a wonderful way to unwind. 😌🏖️

While my husband and son were happily swimming in the hotel pool, I decided to take a leisurely walk along the stretch of Bang Tao Beach. 🌊 This serene beach is perfect for a little exercise, with a mix of cozy bars along the shore where you can relax and take in the stunning views of the sea and the spectacular sunset. Truly a place where time seems to stand still. 🌅
Around 6:30 pm, the sun begins its descent, casting a warm golden hue over the horizon. 🌅 The sky transitions gracefully from a clear turquoise to shades of brass and amber, creating a breathtaking scene. Moments like these are what make the end of a beach day feel so magical. ✨
As the sun dipped lower, some tourists gathered on the beach, enjoying the serene beauty of the sunset. 🌅
The sky put on a spectacular show, painting the horizon in shades of pink, orange, and purple as the sun slowly dipped below the waves, bidding us farewell for the night. It was the perfect end to a peaceful day at the beach, leaving us with unforgettable memories of the sunset over Bang Tao.
After enjoying the sunset, we headed to the hotel restaurant for dinner around 8 pm. The hotel offers three distinct restaurants, each specializing in different cuisines. On Saturday nights, one of the restaurants hosts a buffet, featuring a wide variety of dishes. There’s everything from international favorites to traditional Thai delicacies, including beautifully decorated Thai desserts displayed on large, elegant platters. 🥘🍹🍰
After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll to the lawn by the swimming pool to soak in the serene nighttime atmosphere. The pool area was just as beautiful as it was during the day, with shimmering lights reflecting on the water. It was the perfect way to unwind and let the meal settle before heading off to bed. 🌙💦✨
We returned to our cozy room, feeling grateful for this perfect little escape. This trip was a wonderful reminder of the simple joys — spending time with family, soaking up nature's beauty, and just enjoying the moment.
