I Made A Delicious Snack For My Family

My day started not feeling well. I had a terrible headache. I didn't know what exactly the reason why I suddenly had a headache once I woke up. My husband suspected that it might be because it was very cold last night especially at the dawn. Even if I'm feeling it I still quickly prepared breakfast for my family especially with my boys who have class today. In the breakfast I prepared Koko Crunch and Milk for the boys. They love eating it especially the youngest. When my boys had gone to school, my husband graze the goats. He didn't have work today so he took care of the goat while I'm doing the laundry. I only wash few clothes today. I prioritize washing the school uniform of the boys then I rest. I was able to sleep for about an hour. I thought resting would make my headache better but it didn't. Even so I still get up and prepare for the lunch so that when the boys went home they could eat lunch immediately. After our lunch, I decided to rest again and thank God the headache slowly lessen. My boys would arrive at 3 PM so I boiled the left unripe bananas. I know they were hungry after class so I had prepared a simple snack yet delicious.

When the bananas were cooked I removed the pot from the heat. Then I prepared a small container with cold water in it then put 10 pieces of banana on it. I did this way so that it will be easier to peel the banana since it's still hot. After peeling the banana I put it in a small container. Then I mash the banana to make it smooth then add brown sugar. Adding brown sugar made this mashed banana stick to each other.

When it's mashed properly, I added 5 tablespoon of powdered milk. Here I'm using the Alaska milk powder. After adding the milk powder I mix it well so that the milk will be evenly mix with the banana. Though adding sugar already made the mash banana tasty, putting milk powder will make it more tastier and creamier. Way back then when I was young, my grandma (mother of my father) used to make mashed banana but she only added sugar to it. Sometimes she also added grated coconut to it. It was so delicious. So today I made another version of it. This is my first time making this one and I'm really happy with the taste of it.

When I already mix well the powdered milk with the mashed bananas, I flattened it and divided so that it will be easier for the boys and my husband to take it. My husband had eaten more servings than us so I had to made another batch. But this time around I only used 9 pieces of banana since that's all that's left on the pot.

My youngest son was so picky when it comes to banana. He only eats a little with the banana cooked in coconut milk while when it's boiled he only want a bite then he would give the rest to me. But this snack that I made he ate more today. I think he likes this one. It's maybe because it's creamy and sweet. Though the ginataang saging (banana cooked in coconut milk) is creamy too because of the coconut milk but this one is more creamier. I'm glad that my son like it. I will do another one on the next days because we still have lots of unripe bananas left.

Truly no matter how simple the food is, when it's shared with the family it tastes better.
