Hello Blurtians! Hope you're all having a great day. Today, I'm sharing a story about my experience as an insurance agent, a job that takes me all over the place!
My work involves going house-to-house, talking to people about family life insurance. It's a rewarding job, but it often takes me to remote areas, sometimes even places that require a little bit of adventure.
One day, I was assigned to an area that needed me to take a ride on a “gakit.” It’s a kind of bamboo raft that’s very common in our area, especially for travelling through rivers or narrow waterways. I'd never been on a gakit before, so I was a little nervous.
It’s hard to explain, but the idea of being on a bamboo raft, floating on water, with no motor, just seemed a bit scary to me! I’m not the best swimmer, and I’m terrified of being in deep water.
So, there I was, standing on the edge of the river, looking at this gakit, and feeling a little queasy. The “gakitero,” the guy who’s going to row the raft, saw my worried face, and just laughed. He was such a friendly guy! He reassured me, “Don’t worry, ma’am. It’s safe. We won't sink! Just sit down, relax, and enjoy the ride.”
But I still couldn’t help feeling a little nervous. I sat down on the gakit, my heart beating faster. The “gakitero” started rowing, and we gently glided through the water. I could feel my fear slowly fading as I realized how peaceful the ride was.
We reached our destination, and I thanked the “gakitero” for the safe trip. We even had a little chat about life insurance. He ended up becoming a member, and it was a great feeling knowing I had helped someone in need.
It was a journey of overcoming my fear, and a reminder of the kindness of strangers. It’s a story I’ll never forget! That first ride on a gakit is a story I can laugh about now!
