Today during my bus ride home from uni the bus stopped to pick up more passengers while waiting i looked out the window and saw a fruit stall on the side of the road the sight was refreshing and vibrant crates filled with fresh fruits were stacked neatly and the colors were so bright they seemed to glow in the sunlight there were green apples shiny and plump sitting next to juicy oranges with their sun kissed skin the grapes were piled high with shades of green and purple glistening in the afternoon light.
Right next to them were mangoes their golden yellow skins hinting at the sweet juicy flesh inside there were bananas too hanging in bunches their bright yellow peel with brown spots showing they were perfectly ripe the stall owner moved around arranging the fruits and chatting with customers his hands skillfully picked the ripest ones as he weighed and packed them for eager buyers the fresh scent of oranges and mangoes seemed to drift through the air even though i was inside the bus.
The sun cast a warm golden glow over the fruits making them look even more inviting each crate was filled to the brim with nature’s colorful bounty and it was a reminder of how simple things can be so beautiful the sight of these fresh fruits felt so soothing after a long day the vibrant colors and the quiet hustle of the fruit stall brought a sense of calm it made me think of how satisfying it would be to bite into a juicy apple or sip on a glass of fresh orange juice.
Also today when i came home from uni my dad had brought some delicious snacks from outside the sight of those crispy golden samosas and the perfectly fried kababs made my mouth water instantly the samosas were stuffed full of spicy potatoes and peas wrapped in a flaky crispy pastry that shattered with every bite the edges were perfectly crimped and golden brown and as i took a bite the steam escaped carrying with it that unmistakable aroma of masala and warmth each bite was a mix of crunchy layers and soft spicy filling that melted in my mouth.
The kababs sitting next to the samosas were just as tempting they were golden brown with a crumbly coating that was seasoned to perfection the crispy outside gave way to a juicy flavorful inside filled with finely minced meat and just the right amount of spices each bite was warm and satisfying with hints of garlic ginger and herbs the texture was a perfect balance of crispy on the outside and tender on the inside these kababs were just the right kind of comfort food.
I couldn’t forget the plate of jalebis that my dad brought along those bright orange spirals looked so inviting and glossy the syrup glistened under the light and i could already imagine the burst of sweetness when i bit into one as i picked up a piece the syrup dripped a little onto my fingers and i didn’t mind at all the jalebi was warm and crunchy yet soaked in sugary syrup the moment it touched my tongue it was an explosion of sweet sticky goodness the crunchy layers crumbled and the syrup oozed out making each bite a pure sugary delight.
As we sat together munching on these treats the simple joy of sharing food filled the room the warm spicy samosas the flavorful kababs and the sweet sticky jalebis made it feel like a mini celebration my dad’s smile as he watched us enjoy the snacks made it all the more special it felt like a reminder of how food brings people together in the most heartwarming ways.
