This plant is known by different names in different areas of Bangladesh. In some areas it is known as 'Madhu Gach' or 'Kanshisa' and in others as 'Kanshika'. But the real name of this tree is 'Shvetdrona'. The height of this tree is 1 to one and a half meters. In most cases a few trees grow together in a thicket. This tree can be seen throughout the year. Its ideal flowering time is March and May.
Recently, the wandering of dandakals has been seen on both sides of various roads and in uncultivated land, including in the surrounding areas of Ward No. 3 of Rangpur city. The dandakalsa plant should never be planted singly. It grows naturally as a companion plant or tree with other crops. For this reason, in some places it is also called Sathi Shak. Together with everyone, Dandakals saves biodiversity.
Bulbul Mia, a farmer in Saryartal area, said that Dandakals grows in the natural environment. It does not have to be cultivated or planted. It is usually about a hand's length from the ground. The leaves of this plant are dark green in color and the trunk is light green. Mature plants have pale white flowers. The honey of the flowers is sweet, and the bees are attracted to it. The children of the village took this flower of sweet greed in their mouth and tasted the sweetness.
If you go a little further from Saryartal market, you will see a huge garden. There are various trees including betel nut, coconut, mango, litchi, papaya. Along with the bushes of this garden, the surrounding cultivated and non-cultivated land was also seen to be scattered. There he spoke with Zahurul Islam, the son of the garden owner. He told this reporter that green colored fruits are produced from Dandakals flowers. When this fruit ripens, there are tiny black seeds inside the fruit. Propagation occurs from seed. This small plant has various medicinal properties.
Batul Singh, a seedling producer of rare species of Kaizelia and former gardener of Carmichael College, said that the dandakals plant is decreasing day by day. Earlier, this tree was widely seen along roadsides, paths, fallow land and various crop gardens. But now Dandakals is not seen much. It is becoming difficult to protect this plant. Dandakalas have almost disappeared in some areas.
He also said that now the dandakals are not so visible in the agricultural land of the village. Because the crops that are grown in companionship are not cultivated by farmers anymore. Many of us may not know the qualities of this shrub. Loss of biodiversity will also result in the loss of quality of this herbaceous plant. So it is very important to sustain their biodiversity by partner cropping.
medicinal properties. Tuhin Wadud. He has been working to protect rivers and environment for a long time. He planted about 36 thousand trees of different species in the university campus. This teacher, who was awarded at the national level for greening, said that we don't appreciate it because we don't know the quality of Shvetdrona or Dandakals. But the use of this herbaceous plant is still seen in rural towns.
