Splinterlands Social Media Challenge - The Dynamic Duo

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! In today's post, I'll discuss about cards that I often use together.

There are cards that due to their stats and abilities, synergize well with each other--they are more than the sum of their parts and become very effective in battle together as their abilities complement well. Two cards that I often use in tandem because of this synergy are Uriel the Purifier and Adelaide Brightwing.

Uriel and Adelaide--The Dynamic Duo

Uriel the Purifier

Uriel the Purifier is a tank that deals a lot of damage. At level 3, he has 4 melee damage but because of his Recharge ability he can do 3 times or 12 melee damage in one turn. That's enough to eliminate the enemy tank in one hit. He has 6 armor and 12 health so is quite a beefy tank. He can also sustain himself with his Heal ability. On top of that, he also has the Flying ability allowing him to Dodge some physical attacks.

Adelaide Brightwing

Adelaide Brightwing is one of the best support units in the game. At level 3 she has the Repair and Resurrect abilities to help support other units. She also has the Flying and Immunity abilities. In addition, Adelaide deals 2 magic damage and has decent health.

Why Are They a Great Pair?

Uriel is a great tank that has a lot of damage potential. He is also very beefy with 6 armor and 12 health. To be effective at his role as tank/damage dealer, he needs to stay in battle for as long as it takes. This will allow other damage dealers to eliminate the opponent while Uriel soaks damage. Having Adelaide to repair his armor fulfills this need. On the other hand, there are other units that can repair armor, why is Adelaide special? The answer is because of Adelaide's abilities. The pair of Uriel and Adelaide are optimal not only in regular battles but in particular rulesets as well.

Earthquake

Since both have the Flying ability, both are perfect in the Earthquake ruleset where flying units are immune to damage from the ruleset. On top of their synergy, they can freely do battle while not worrying about earthquake damage.

Noxious Fumes

This ruleset will deal Poison damage each turn. Uriel has the Heal ability so the Poison damage is mitigated by his healing so he can sustain himself this way. Adelaide on the other hand has the Immunity ability and need not worry about poison damage.

Four's a Crowd

They are a viable option in high mana battles where the number of units are limited.

Battles

Battle 1

My opponent picked the Drybone Barbarian for tank duties. While he is a great tank with Enrage and Retaliate abilities. He lacks armor to protect himself and was taken out by Uriel in one hit. This demonstrates how devastating Uriel can be as a damage dealer.

Battle 2

In this battle, we can see how Uriel and Adelaide's flying abilities help them dodge physical attacks. As usual, Uriel is effective as a damage dealer even if his damage was halved by the opponent's Arkemis the Bear.

Final Thoughts

Splinterlands is a game where a single card is not enough to win battles. We need to find cards that synergize with each other well to optimize their performance. Uriel and Adelaide are one such pair. There are others as well such as Commander Slade and Coastal Sentry or Djinn Renova and Iziar to name a few. It's part of the fun in playing to discover these combinations and unleash it to our enemies in battle.

Thank you for reading and have fun playing Splinterlands!
