Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Today let's get into #SplinterlandsCardStrategy. I'll be showing a some card combinations I use for high mana and low mana battles.
High Mana Battles
For high mana battles I usually use a Dragon/Light combination since the Light Splinter has a lot of good high mana units. The main units I use are Uriel the Purifier in the first position followed by Djinn Renova. I'll have Adelaide Brightwing somewhere in the middle and Iziar in the last position. Other cards will fill up the slot based on mana requirements.
My strategy is simple--sustainability. Uriel has is very beefy with a thick shield and has the Heal ability. He can also deal insane damage in one shot because of his Recharge ability. Adelaide Brightwing will help him become more tanky by repairing his shield while damage received from magic will be healed by him.
I'd put Iziar in the backline to draw damage with his Taunt ability. Magic damage is reduced because of his Void ability. Djinn Renova will heal him with her Triage ability. This whole strategy means my opponent's damage is being divided between Uriel and Iziar while both are being healed. At the same time, my damage dealers do their job in reducing the enemy team.
No Magic Battles
For battles where the ruleset prevents the use of magic units I'd immediately pick the Water Splinter if it's available.
My usual team will be Commander Slade in the tank position. He is probably one the best tanks in the game with his Dodge, Enfeeble and Reflection shield abilities. He also has a thick shield, great speed and deals a lot of damage. However, he is vulnerable to magic damage where his Dodge and armor won't protect him. So in this ruleset, Commander Slade is very strong. In second position I'd put the Flying Squid. It's Blind ability is great and will help Commander Slade avoid more hits. Other damage dealers are the Deep Lurker and Kulu Mastermind which both have the Opportunity ability. To help sustain Commander Slade, I have the Merdaali Guardian who has the Repair and Heal abilities. Finally, in the last position is Swamp Spitter who not only deal 3 Ranged damage but also has the Repair ability.
Low Mana Battle
For low mana battles, I usually pick the Death Splinter. The Death Splinter summoner debuffs magic, which is commonly used in low mana battles. It also has a great self healing tank and good low mana damage dealers.
For low mana battles, I'd pick the Cursed Windeku as tank. It can heal itself and has the Thorns ability. It deals 3 melee damage has 3 speed and 10 health making it a good tank. If there were more mana, I'd have the Ravenhood Warden in the team to give Windeku a shield. I would also pick the Wierding Warrior because it only requires 2 mana to use. It has the Shatter ability which is great agains opponents with thick armor. It also has the Amplify ability that boosts Windeku's Thorns damage. In the last position I'd slot in the Halfling Refugee and a zero mana card to absorb damage from sneak attackers.
Conclusion
Splinterlands has rulesets where every battle is a different situation. You'd have to pick a team that will be effective in a particular ruleset. This is what makes Splinterlands a fun and engaging game--employing strategies to battle your opponent and the ruleset.
