Splinterlands Social Media Challenge: Guild Brawl and A Legendary Gladiator Card!

in blurt-1787181 •  9 days ago

Hello Splinterlands Summoners! Our guild wrapped up another brawl! I used some merits to grab Gladius cases, expanded my Gladiator card collection, and even got a legendary card. Today, I'll be sharing our results and the new cards I picked up.

Brawl Performance

I had great brawl results winning five battles out of eight. Our guild earned decent rewards obtaining 5,100 merits and 71 SPS.

Overall, our guild didn't do too well in the brawl. We just ranked fifth earning 99 crowns.

Guild Store

I headed to the Guild Store to buy Gladius Cases. Each Gladius Case contain five cards with one guaranteed rare or higher. I bought three cases for six thousand merits. This means that I will have fifteen new cards added to my collection.

Gladius Case Opening

Opening the Gladius Cases I was pleasantly surprised to get a new legendary card! It's a Death Splinter card, Xulax Nightwind. This is my second copy of this card, one more and I will be upgrade him. I wasn't able to upgrade any cards this time around though but bringing fifteen new cards to my collection brings me closer to upgrading some of them.

My Legendary Gladiator Card Collection

I'm proud of my Gladiator card collection because they can only be acquired by playing the game. Gladiator cards cannot be bought from the market so these cards are the result of my hard work. My best card among these is my gold foil Fina at level three. She's very strong with four abilities. I also have a level two Jini Guise and my Xulax Nightwind and Larissa Kerato are close to being level two. I'm only missing Tatiana Blayde in my collection and I'll keep grinding to get her.

Featured Battle

Today's featured battle involves Back to Basics and Reverse Speed rulesets. These are both counterintuitive since the ruleset removes card's abilities and penalizes speed which is a positive stat. You have to adjust your strategies to play this ruleset effectively.

There are only three splinters allowed. I'd pick Water (fast units) or Dragon (decreases opponents speed) anytime but because of the reverse speed ruleset I chose Fire instead. Also, since this ruleset removes abilities, I have to choose units with high damage output.

My team is composed of Chimney Wallstop, a common Gladiator card but he is a beast that can deal seven melee damage, has three armor and nine health. More importantly, he is slow with only two speed stats. In second position I had the Halfling Refugee as a second tank. The rest of my team are composed of archers that deal three or more ranged damage.

My opponent picked the Water team with Lux Vega as summoner. Among her buffs are plus one speed putting her team at a disadvantage in this ruleset. On the damage department, his team has lower damage output having three units with only two ranged damage. My opponent has the Diemonshark in the tank position and Nerissa Tridawn as secondary tank.

The battle started with my tank reducing Diemonshark's armor to zero which then got eliminated by my team. Nerissa Tridawn soon followed elimination before my Chimney Wallstop made his exit. After my opponent's Shock Trooper died he was left only with ranged units and was soon defeated.
