Splinterlands: My Thoughts on the New Legends Cards and Our Guild Brawl

Hello Splinterlands Summoners and happy Sunday! It's been good vibes this week as crypto has been pumping led by BTC. Our token, Blurt has been pumping as well. Anyway, this is another Splinterlands post from me talking about the two new cards sold in the Hall of Legends and I'll also talk about our recent Guild Brawl.

Hall of Legends

As usual, there are two cards that will be sold in this round, one Rare and one Legendary. The rare card is Meriput Mossmender and the legendary is the Egyptian themed card, Nephket. Let's check them out!

Meriput Mossmender

Meriput Mossmender is the rare card and costs 3000 DEC per BCX. First, I really like the design of this card. It's cute and bad ass at the same time. As for the utility, my battle strategy mainly hinges on sustainability. I'm a big fan of Adelaide Brightwing and Merdaali Guardian. Both cards are very good at helping my tank stay in battle longer thus allowing my damage dealers do their job. Meriput Mossmender has the Repair ability at level 1 which is the ability that I want. At level 2, she gains Dodge helping her avoid attacks. Level 4 is where I like her where she gains another support ability, Cleanse. This ability is important in Poison rulesets. It will take a lot of DEC though to get 25 BCX of this card but if you have the funds then it's well spent in this card.

Nephket

Nephket is the legendary card costing a hefty 50000 DEC per BCX. Her stats and abilities are great. First, she deals both Ranged and Melee damage. She has the Sneak ability which means she can use both attacks per round. She also has the Stun ability giving 50% chance for her target to skip next turn. She gets a lot better at level 2, where I'd want her if I was going to get her. At level 2 she adds 1 to her melee damage and she gains the Knockout ability. All her abilities and damage potential greatly synergize with each other. She hits twice per round with melee and ranged then Stuns the target. Next round, her Knockout ability kicks in and does double damage to the Stunned target. This makes her a deadly and effective assassin and a nice addition to anyone's deck. Level 2 sets you back 150k DEC so if you have the funds, she's definitely a fun card to have.

Those are my thoughts on the two cards. Now let's move on to our Guild Brawl.

Guild Brawl

Another brawl was finished and as usual I'll be sharing our performance and my Gladius pack opening.

Performance

I played in a Fray that allows only Chaos Legion and Untamed sets. Consequently I wasn't able to use my Rebellion cards and I don't have Untamed so I scored only 3 out of 8.

Nonetheless, our guild placed 4th and we were able to earn 5,700 Merits and 90 SPS rewards.

Gladius Cards

I have over 8000 Merits that was enough to buy 4 Gladius cases or 20 cards that will be added to my collection.

There are no legendary cards this time but I pulled a couple of epics and there were a lot of rare cards. I was also able to upgrade a couple of cards, one rare and one epic.

Sample Battle

A battle from the Brawl that I won. I was debating if I'd use my Fina which will be a great card in this battle but I wanted a unit with armor because of the Explosive Weaponry ruleset so I picked Chimney Wallstop instead. It seems to be the correct decision as the armor of my units helped them stay in battle longer. On the other hand, the Blast damage reduced the health of my opponent's unshielded units.
