Splinterlands: My First Battle Against Elias Max Pruitt

Elias Max Pruitt is a legendary Life/Water summoner that was available through Conficts. Costing 7 mana, it's a card that's very overpowered in my opinion. Not only can you use a combination of two Splinters, you also have a choice of buffs either defensive (Repair and Cleanse) or offensive (Armored Strike and Piercing). Not only that, he also buffs the team with +1 melee attack and +1 armor.

My Team

In the battle I'm going to share, we have a Noxious Fumes and Taking Sides ruleset. In Noxious Fumes, I often use the Light Splinter which was available in this battle. Here I used my usual team of a strong healer tank (Uriel the Purifier), Djinn Renova for her Strengthen ability, Adelaide Brightwing for her support abilities and Immunity which is useful in the ruleset, Venari Crystalsmith for extra healing and the new Light Splinter reward card that is crucial in Noxious Fumes, Luceheim Demon for his Cleanse ability.

The Opponent's Team is OP

My opponent's team is overpowered compared to mine. First he has a level 4 Max Pruitt as summoner. In this battle, he chose Armored Strike and Piercing. It seems he would have done better if he chose Cleanse. In the tank position he has a max level Coastal Sentry which deals insane damage and will eliminate my beefy Uriel. In second position is another max level card, the Wavebrood. Next is a max level Deeplurker followed by a level 3 Mana Warden. In the fifth position is a Wavesmith.

The Battle

My opponent's team dealt insane damage since he also has Armored Strike together with +1 melee attack buff. Thankfully my team lasted long enough for the Poison in the ruleset to help me whittle down the enemy units. Indeed, I won by sheer luck when his last attack against my Adelaide missed as his health was down to 1.

Conclusion

I mentioned this several times that having the stronger cards don't guarantee the win. You have to pick the optimal team not just to fight against your opponent but the ruleset as well. I also experienced frustration after losing to level 2 summoners who have better team synergy. This is what makes Splinterlands fun and exciting.
