Hello Splinterlands Summoners! A new season has just started. Last season was extremely rewarding as I was able to upgrade my deck and acquire some new cards. This season, I continue to do battle to earn Glints and SPS. I'll be sharing some of my favorite battles but first let's check out an interesting card in the auction shop.

Gold Foil Heloise the Hollow in Auction Shop

As of this writing, the current highest bid is 7.5m DEC or around $6k. If you think this price is insane, the first gold foil card was sold for 14m DEC or about twice the current bid. I expect this bid to go higher in the next hours. The regular foils were sold for more than 1m DEC each so this auction is a smashing success.

My Favorite Battles this Season

Each Splinterlands battle can be unique because of the combination of rulesets and the opponent's choice of cards and your own. This makes Splinterlands a fun and exciting game to play. Every battle tells a different story.

Battle 1 - Come From Behind Victory

In this battle, I was against a more powerful opponent. He has four powerful legendary cards that I can only dream of having. while I was relying on my reward cards.

My opponent's Ambush ability quickly help eliminate two of my units, my tank and offtank while he still has his damage dealers. The game seems to be over at this point but wait--from out of nowhere my Dragon Forager, a rare reward cards seems to be benefiting from the Born Again ruleset. The Dragon Forager has the Scavenger ability which increases his health and max health each time any unit, enemy and allies, get eliminated. He and Meriput Slinger were able to hold off the enemy legendary damage dealers.

Battle 2 - Shades of Gray Ruleset

This battle features my most wanted card, Tatiana Blayde. This is a Shades of Gray and Are You Not Entertained ruleset. Normally, Tatiana Blayde will shine in this battle and the player who has her will have a huge advantage. My opponent's strategy is obviously reliant on his Tatiana Blayde. He placed a healing tank to sustain himself in battle as long as he can and he also has a Venari Marksrat beside Tatiana. This is to take advantage of the Marksrat's Martyr ability and buff his Tatiana when it gets eliminated.

My opponent has the most powerful unit in this battle but he only has three units versus four of mine. Also, his other units do not do much damage as he relied too much on one unit. My total potential damage per round was seven against my opponent's 5. Although his Tatiana can do melee damage, she wasn't able to do so because she is in the back. His tank got eliminated first and soon only his Tatiana was left against my four units. With only 5 health, she didn't last long in battle.

Battle 3 - Quillion Legionary's First Battle

I just upgraded my Quillion Legionary after last season. His stats and abilities are now great as a tank. He has Thorns and Void against melee and magic damage respectively. He also has decent health and can deal 2 ranged damage from up close. Behind him are the rest of my magic damage dealers. My opponent chose the Fire Splinter with a maxed Tarsa Summoner. He also has a maxed Grum Flameblade which is an ideal anti-magic tank. Strangely, my opponent used two tanks instead of one and another unit with Reach ability. He was also lacking good sneak attackers like Tenyi Striker and Uraeus to eliminate my damage dealers from behind.

My opponent's Drybone Megalodon got eliminated quickly. His Grum while extremely beefy and has abilities against magic was damaged by my Quillion Legionary and his Thorns ability. My tank's Void ability also helped against my opponent's damage dealers. Soon his Grum was eliminated and his other units didn't last long.

Conclusion

Splinterlands is in a good place right now with all the right elements falling into place. The auction is proving to be a huge success while the SPS token has increased to $0.01 which has pumped big from its lows. Next year, we are expecting a new set which will bring new excitement to the game. We are also expecting an influx of new players due to easier onboarding introduced by the team. All the while, battles continue to be fun and exciting as I have shown above. I'm expecting great things to happen to Splinterlands next year.

Thank you for reading and have fun playing!
