In Mediterranean locations, the lemon tree will be planted in the open, whereas elsewhere it will be grown in tubs. Being a member of the orangery plant family, it lacks hardiness.

You may savour the flavour and aroma of its fruit, the lemon, by providing it with water, fertiliser, and lots of light.

The lemon tree grows swiftly to a height of 2.50 to 3 metres. It is an upright tree. The lemon, which is its bright fruit, is widely recognised. Menton has adopted this fruit as its emblem, having been a major producer for decades.

Lemons are sour and juicy, and they provide flavour to a variety of recipes. They are delicious in tarts.

The lemon tree also produces huge, aromatic leaves and equally fragrant white blooms. The flowering is protracted and recurrent.

The lemon tree will be planted in well-drained, light-fertile, slightly acidic soil and receive full sun and wind protection.

In mild climates, where it will be warm and shielded from strong winds that dry out the soil, dehydrate the plant, lower temperatures, shred the leaves, and harm the fruit, it is best trained against a south-facing wall.
