On Tuesday, May 21, 2024, members of the Network of Environmental Stakeholders Cameroon (NEST-Cam) held a World Environment Day planning meeting from 11:00 AM to about 01:45 PM at the conference hall of the Regional Delegation of Environment, Protection of Nature and Sustainable Development (RD-MINEPDED). The meeting, presided over by the Regional Delegate and attended by members of NEST-Cam, resolved to implement the following activities to commemorate this year's World Environment Day:

Saturday, June 1st: World Environment Day Quiz
For Primary, Secondary, and University students.

Tuesday, June 4th: WED Walk for the Environment
A walk on the newly constructed stairway from downtown to Up Station, during which we will assess how the landscape of Bamenda has changed over time. The WED Walk for the Environment will conclude with a tree planting exercise at GBHS Mendakwe, Bamenda 1 Council, and another school(s) yet to be confirmed.

Wednesday, June 5th: Round Table Talk, Exhibition, and Closing Ceremony
Various organizations will participate in a round table talk and exhibition, culminating in the closing ceremony at RD-MINEPDED.

The date and time for radio sensitization programs will be confirmed and communicated so that organizations can join to raise awareness about WED and their activities on the radio.

In a bid to give this year's World Environment Day the color and impact it deserves, we resolved as follows:

  1. Individuals and/or organizations should actively and massively participate in this year's WED activities.
  2. Individuals and/or organizations should support the tree planting exercise by donating trees.
  3. Individuals and/or organizations should support the WED Quiz by donating prizes to the winners of the 2024 WED Quiz.
  4. Individuals and/or organizations should financially support refreshments for this year's WED.
  5. Organizations not represented on the NEST-Cam backdrop should forward their logos to The Greens so that they can be added.
  6. Organizations should come prepared to exhibit their products and services during the closing ceremony.

To this effect, Ngalim Franklin (Mr. Green @greeneducator) of The Greens was nominated and unanimously accepted to collect support for this year's World Environment Day.

Thank you for your understanding and collaboration in the successful commemoration of this year's World Environment Day.

Green regards,
