Homemade Korean Kimchi Recipe
Make spicy and tangy Korean kimchi at home with this simple recipe. Perfect for adding a kick to any meal
Ingredients to be used
- 1 medium Napa cabbage
- one forth cup sea salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 4 cups water
- 4 5 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon ginger minced
- 1 tablespoon fish sauce
- 2 tablespoons Korean red pepper flakes gochugaru
- 4 green onions chopped
- 1 medium carrot julienned
- half daikon radish julienned
Instructions to be followed
- Cut the cabbage into quarters and remove the core. Chop into bite sized pieces.
- dissolve the sea salt in 4 cups of water. Add the cabbage pieces and let them soak for 2 hours
- Rinse the cabbage thoroughly under cold water and drain well.
- take a bowl and combine the garlic ginger fish sauce sugar and Korean red pepper flakes to make the kimchi paste.
- combine the drained cabbage green onions carrot and daikon radish.
- Add the kimchi paste to the vegetables and mix well make sure to coat well
- Pack the kimchi mixture tightly into a clean airtight jar pressing down to remove any air bubbles.
- Seal the jar and let it ferment at room temperature for 1 2 days then transfer to the refrigerator.
- Your kimchi is ready to eat
