Dental bleaching is a clinical approach and procedure that is employed in removing tooth stains or disclourations from either the internal or the external surface of a tooth.
The clinical treatment approach as to which type of bleaching to be employed on a case depends on the status and vitality of the tooth to be treated.
It is all about management of tooth stains and disclourations. The major objective of dental bleaching is to lighten the discolourations present in order for the tooth to appear naturally with its original colour or atleast very close to it.
Types of Dental Bleaching
Dental bleaching is divided into two type major divisions namely;
(i) Vital Tooth Bleaching Techniques
(ii) Non-vital Tooth Bleaching Techniques
The vital tooth bleaching is further divided into three sub-divisions;
(a) In office/ Power Bleaching
(b) Night Guard Technique
(c) Assisted Technique
On the other hand, non-vital tooth technique is divided into the following types
(a) Walking Bleaching
(b) Thermocatalytic Bleaching, Laser activation
(c) In-out Bleaching
