Ludwig's angina is a complicated cellulitis of the orofacial tissues.

The tissues of the mouth protrudes upward causing drooling in absence of salivary swallowing.

On the other hand, speaking difficulty could be observed as well especially during the manifestation stage of the condition. In a nutshell, Ludwig's infection can degenerates into a life threatening complications within few hours if not attend to early.

Symptoms of Ludwig's angina usually includes Fever, pain, a raised tongue causing airway obstruction and trouble in swallowing, neck swelling, orofacial deformities and so on.

"Airway compromise" is highly noticed.

Initial treatment is majorly with broad-spectrum antibiotics and corticosteroids so as to kill off the bacteria and reduce pain that accompanies inflammation respectively.

Endotracheal intubation or tracheotomy therapy.
