I learned that perfect strangers can become great friends and family, that best friends can over the years disappear. That you meet people in adversity and that some people reveal their true identity to you if you give them a little power.

I learned that true love never hurts, that we must unlearn from human relationships, especially love to begin to heal wounds. That there always comes the one who comes to be our traveling companion, that wonderful, unique, different and imperfect being who comes to understand our world, who loves our chaos and who is light when ours is fading. I learned that to love and be loved we must let go of our fears, drive away the ghosts and most especially to be ourselves.
I also learned that nothing is more important than family, than those people who are by your side, fighting your battles and rejoicing with your victories. That you should never sacrifice time with your loved ones, especially for work. Time is a very valuable element and it is invested in what is really worth for us, that is why over the years the time with elderly parents, with children who wake up to life and with your partner is unique and does not return.

I learned that life passes in an instant, that this day can be the first of many or the end of the book. That I never leave home without saying goodbye with love, that I never allow myself to leave an argument in disgust, that I forgive, let go and give everyone the opportunity to be by my side or away from me, because I learned that sometimes the greatest act of love you can do for another person is to give them freedom and space.
I learned that if I stumble and fall, I get up, shake off the dirt and keep walking. That I must build with the stones that I sometimes find on the road or that certain people throw at me to see me fall. I learned that there are many unscented roses and wild flowers whose scent permeates and perfumes everything they touch. That we should never judge by appearances and that life is such a good teacher that if you don't learn the lesson it repeats it over and over again.

Over the years I learned to value every second, every instant. That life is measured in moments of happiness and in those that have been molded by fire. I learned to value silence, solitude and the intimacy of my space. And I learned as my favorite writer Gabriel García Márquez says that "the secret of a good old age is an honest pact with solitude".
