Are You Appreciating This Beautiful Day?

Do we ever take the time to truly appreciate everything around us and everything this life has to offer? Do we just look at each other and say that we are beautiful? Do we show our love to the people we are concerned about? Naturally, all of these queries are rhetorical. But these were the questions I couldn't help but ask myself this morning as I was strolling.

My days now feel like a carefully crafted list, I've noticed. My appreciation for everything around me has been lacking. Also, I came to the realization that it's quite simple to take for granted something as basic as the aroma of freshly brewed coffee, just like my friend did. Like with my "perfect" walk this morning, I quickly recognized that it wasn't going to go as I had anticipated and that instead of accepting and appreciating life as it comes, I prefer to imagine how I think something should go.

But that's why I love going for walks. It's the starting point for me to build a more fulfilling and profound existence. It allows me to reflect, push my physical and mental limits, and soak in the beauty all around me.

I believe I'll slack down a little this week. I will no longer exhaust myself trying to cross tasks off lists. Put an end to the stress. My friend said that life is too short to not make the most of what I have been fortunate to have, so why would I waste what little time I have left?
