If you awoke to find yourself the sole inhabitant of Earth, what scenarios might unfold? (Part 1)

Have you ever considered what it could be like to discover one day that you are the last person alive on Earth? The ramifications of this topic are so strange that thinking about it causes the brain to briefly freeze.

Although there is very little probability of this happening, let's pretend for the purposes of this piece that it does happen to you. How would you respond? In what way would you live? That's an intriguing idea to consider.

The Day That Everyone Goes Missing

One day you wake up and, as soon as you open your eyes, you notice that everything seems quieter than usual. A tad too silent. Perhaps there isn't as much traffic as normal, but when you get out of bed and glance out the window, you receive the shock of your life.

You look around and there's nobody there at all. The normally bustling roadway is practically deserted. You go downstairs and out of the home to investigate. You realize something horrible must have happened as you stroll through the neighborhood.

The zombie apocalypse depicted in your favorite TV show starts to seem plausible as you continue to walk and observe no traces of human life. You become wary right away and proceed cautiously at all times. In case something happens, you even bring along the baseball bat you found on the ground.

When you are panicked, you grab your phone to call your loved ones. There is no response. Not even one of those. Even when you phone the cops, nobody answers. After that, you return, hop in your vehicle, and take a tour of the metropolis. I could not see a single soul. How come?

After driving around the city for the whole day without seeing anyone, you start to believe that this is all just a dream and that it will all end when you wake up. No, it doesn't. Your level of panic increases.

You get home and switch on the television to watch the news. Nothing at all. Nothing is being aired on television. You notice that none of your friends have posted anything on Facebook today when you check your wall!

It seems like everyone has suddenly disappeared! Is that possible? Is it possible that, for some strange reason, everyone simply vanished into thin air, leaving you behind? All you can do is cry when the sadness of losing a loved one takes over. However, the idea that you are alone yourself seems ridiculous in some part of your mind, so you ignore it because you assume that someone else must be out there.

After venturing farther afield than your hometown a few days later, you are gradually accepting that, despite appearances, you are indeed alone. As far as you are aware, you are alone, however perhaps there are individuals in other large cities or other nations.
