Visitando a mis amigas

He estado aprovechando este tiempo en Venezuela visitando a algunas amigas del bachillerato con las cuales tenía tiempo que o salía. Estaba viviendo en Chile y ahora estoy de visita en Maracaibo porque mi hija dará a luz a su primera hija.

Es grato poder compartir de nuevo con tantas amistades que, debido a mi viaje migratorio, dejé de hacerlo, pero nunca perdí la comunicación con ellas.

El calor de la ciudad, muy característica a cualquier hora, se hace sentir siempre, de la misma manera que el amor y el cariño por las personas con las cuales pasé 5 años de mi vida mientras estudiaba.

I have been taking advantage of this time in Venezuela visiting some friends from high school with whom I had time or went out. I was living in Chile, and now I am visiting Maracaibo because my daughter will give birth to her first daughter.

It is pleasant to be able to share again with so many friends that, due to my migratory journey, I stopped doing so, but I never lost communication with them.

The warmth of the city, very characteristic at any time, is always felt, in the same way as the love and affection for the people with whom I spent 5 years of my life while studying.

Al terminar de conversar tantas cosas, decidí ir a mi casa e invitar a mi hija a comernos un helado en Mc. Donald en el centro comercial que queda cerca. Nos fuimos caminando porque queda muy cerca y eso le ayuda a mi hija en el trabajo de parto que tendrá pronto.

El centro comercial no estaba lleno de gente, como solía estarlo antes de la crisis económica que carcomió el dinero de los ciudadanos. Con salarios cada vez más bajos, la gente depende mucho del dinero que los familiares en el extranjero envían para ayudar a solventar la situación.

After talking so many things, I decided to go home and invite my daughter to eat ice cream at Mc. Donald in the nearby shopping center. We walked because she is very close and that helps my daughter in the labor that she will have soon.

The shopping center was not as crowded with people, as it used to be, before the economic crisis that ate away at citizens' money. With wages falling, people rely heavily on money sent from relatives abroad to help make ends meet.

Siempre pedimos el helado de vainilla con sirope de leche condensada o chocolate, y no sentamos en una de las mesas del patio de comida del centro comercial. En estos momentos, también se encuentra en mantenimiento el área de la pista de hielo. Hace muchos años quedó inhabilitada por falta de mantenimiento, pero unos años después (creo que unos 10 años) decidieron que era momento de ponerla a funcionar, y volver a esos tiempos donde, tanto jóvenes como adultos, disfrutaban patinando y compartiendo con sus seres queridos.

Pronto, nacerá mi nieta Gemma, y veremos como realmente será esta personita que hemos esperado por casi 10 meses.

We always order vanilla ice cream with condensed milk or chocolate syrup, and we don't sit at one of the tables in the mall's food court. The ice rink area is also currently undergoing maintenance. Many years ago it was disabled due to lack of maintenance, but a few years later (I think about 10 years) they decided that it was time to put it to work and return to those times where, both young and old, they enjoyed skating and sharing with their loved ones.

Soon, my granddaughter Gemma will be born, and we will see how she will truly be this little person we have waited for almost 10 months.
