Siempre me he preocupado por la alimentación de mis gatos, porque al igual que nosotros, ellos necesitan una dieta equilibrada para estar sanos. Sin embargo, no todos los gatos tienen las mismas necesidades, y eso es algo que he aprendido con el tiempo y, sobre todo, con la experiencia. Así como existe una pirámide nutricional para las personas, en el mundo de los gatos también hay opciones de alimentos que van desde las más básicas hasta las premium. ¿Cómo saber cuál elegir? Depende mucho de lo que cada uno necesite.
Y aquí comienza la historia de mi gato Negro, el abuelo de la casa
Negrito tiene 13 años y 4 meses. Siempre ha sido un gato fuerte y con carácter (bastante salvaje, para ser honesta), pero con el tiempo empecé a notar que estaba perdiendo peso. Llegó a pesar solo 2,8 kg, cuando antes estaba cerca de los 4 kg. Su pelaje también se debilitó muchísimo, le salió caspa y comenzó a caerse a montones. Aunque seguía teniendo energía y ese temperamento suyo tan especial, era evidente que algo no andaba bien.
Después de investigar bastante y ver las opciones, decidí probar con Leonardo Senior, un alimento premium para gatos mayores. La verdad es que al principio me costó decidirme porque no es precisamente barato, pero era lo mejor para él.
Por ejemplo una marca de supermercado como mastercart tiene un precio de $12 dólares los 3 kg de alimento, en cambio Leonardo senior trae 1,8 kg y su precio es de $25 dólares. Como pueden ver hay una diferencia abismal, lo bueno es que al ser un alimento premium se le debe dar menos cantidad.
Este alimento tiene ingredientes súper interesantes como krill marino, semillas de chía y harina de semillas de uva, que ayudan con la digestión, la piel y el pelaje. Desde que comenzó a comerlo, he notado varios cambios positivos. Su energía ha mejorado, la caspa ha disminuido, y aunque su pelaje sigue recuperándose, va mucho mejor. Incluso el problema de estreñimiento crónico que tenía ha mejorado muchísimo. ¡Un alivio!
¿Y mis otros gatos?
Mis otros gatos no tienen los mismos problemas de salud que Negrito, así que ellos siguen comiendo Agility Urinary, un alimento que les ha ido súper bien para cuidar su sistema urinario. Pero aquí es donde viene el dilema...
El Leonardo Senior tiene un aroma fuerte, muy a "carne fresca", y claro, ¡mis otros gatos también quieren probarlo! Apenas sienten el olor, dejan de mirar su comida y se acercan al plato de Negrito. Lo malo es que no puedo darles este alimento a todos. Primero, porque mi presupuesto no me lo permite, y segundo, porque Agility Urinary les ha funcionado perfecto para su salud. No quiero cambiar lo que ya les está yendo bien.
Así que ahora estoy en una especie de "batalla de olores" en casa. Mientras Negrito disfruta su comida especial, tengo que vigilar que los demás no le roben ni un bocado.
Cada gato es un mundo
Lo que he aprendido de todo esto es que no existe una sola fórmula para todos. Leonardo Senior ha sido la mejor opción para Negrito, pero Agility Urinary sigue siendo ideal para mis otros gatos. Cada uno tiene sus propias necesidades, y como dueños responsables, debemos observarlos, entenderlos y ofrecerles lo que mejor les haga. No se trata de comprar lo más caro o lo que esté de moda, sino lo que realmente necesiten. Yo he tomado estas decisiones con el corazón y con lo que está a mi alcance. Porque, al final, ellos son mi familia y quiero lo mejor para cada uno, dentro de lo posible.
Tengo muchísimos gatos, y admito que si económicamente pudiera les compraría a todos Leonardo Senior.
I’ve Always Cared About My Cats’ Nutrition

Just like there’s a nutritional pyramid for humans, in the feline world, there are also food options ranging from basic to premium. How do you choose the right one? It really depends on each cat’s specific needs.
This is the story of my cat, Negrito—the grandpa of the house.
Negrito is 13 years and 4 months old. He’s always been a strong, tough cat (and quite wild, to be honest). But over time, I started to notice that he was losing weight. He dropped to 2.8 kg when he used to weigh around 4 kg. His fur became extremely weak, he developed dandruff, and he started shedding a lot. Although he still had energy and his unique temper, it was clear that something was wrong.
After doing a lot of research and checking out different options, I decided to try Leonardo Senior, a premium food for senior cats. Honestly, it wasn’t an easy choice because it’s not exactly cheap, but it seemed like the best for him.
For example, a supermarket brand like Mastercart costs $12 for 3 kg, whereas Leonardo Senior costs $25 for 1.8 kg. As you can see, the price difference is huge. The good part is that with a premium food like this, you feed them a smaller quantity.
This food contains interesting ingredients like marine krill, chia seeds, and grape seed flour, which help with digestion, skin, and coat health. Since he started eating it, I’ve noticed several positive changes. His energy has improved, the dandruff has decreased, and while his coat is still recovering, it’s getting better. Even his chronic constipation has improved a lot—a real relief!
What About My Other Cats?
My other cats don’t have the same health issues as Negrito, so they still eat Agility Urinary, which works great for their urinary health. But here’s where the challenge starts...
Leonardo Senior has a strong smell, very much like "fresh meat," and, of course, my other cats want to try it! As soon as they smell it, they stop paying attention to their own food and head straight for Negrito’s bowl. The problem is that I can’t give them this food. First, because my budget doesn’t allow it, and second, because Agility Urinary is already working perfectly for them. I don’t want to change something that’s been good for their health.
So now, I’m in the middle of a “scent battle” at home. While Negrito enjoys his special food, I have to keep a close eye to make sure the others don’t steal a bite.
Every Cat Is Unique
What I’ve learned from all this is that there’s no one-size-fits-all formula. Leonardo Senior has been the best option for Negrito, but Agility Urinary is still ideal for my other cats. Each cat has its own needs, and as responsible owners, we must observe, understand, and give them what suits them best. It’s not about buying the most expensive or trendy food but choosing what they truly need. I’ve made these decisions with my heart and within my means. After all, they’re my family, and I want the best for each of them, as far as I can.
I have many cats, and I admit that if I could afford it, I’d buy Leonardo Senior for all of them.
