Agatha Christie often referred to Greenway as 'the loveliest place in the world' and treasured it as a holiday home for her and her family.
The house was left to the national trust with all its belongings, it is absolutely stacked full of items, all original. It’s very open and they tell you not to touch anything but you can look very closely at everything, I hope people do not abuse this so they end up taking it away.
The house contains over 5,000 books including a number of Christie’s first editions.
Agatha bought Greenway in 1938, the proceeds from her bestselling detective novels along with the sale of her childhood home in Torquay allowed her to make this purchase. She had known about Greenway since she was a young girl.
